May 29, 2024 (Minneapolis): Police Chief Brian O’Hara said that at approximately 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Minneapolis Police officers responded to a call in the 100 block of Glenwood Ave N for a baby who was not breathing and unresponsive. Officers found the two-year-old girl in a room with narcotics paraphernalia around her. Officers administered Narcan and performed CPR until paramedics arrived. The child was transported to Hennepin Healthcare where she later died.
O’Hara said investigators are calling her death suspicious.
“I am horrified and saddened by this tragedy,” O’Hara said. “Our investigators are fully committed to finding the facts and figuring out how this little girl died.”
Preliminary information indicates there were two adults and one seven-year-old with the two-year-old in the home. The seven-year-old was unharmed. Investigators spoke with both adults regarding the circumstances surrounding the girl’s death.
No arrests have been made.

Forensic scientists from the Minneapolis Police Forensic Division responded to process the scene and collect evidence. Homicide detectives responded to begin an investigation.
The Hennepin County Medical Examiner will determine the cause and nature of her death.
