PINE ISLAND, MINNESOTA

Douglas Trail crossing @ 125th Street NW will be closing July 31, 2017.

Road construction for the new alignment of CSAH 5, past the Pine Island elementary school has been underway since the end of June.  With this project, the at grade Douglas Trail crossing will be removed and a new tunnel trail crossing will be constructed. The trail is planned to be completed this construction season as a gravel trail.  The trail will be surfaced next year, along with the new roadway. We are asking all bicyclists and pedestrians to avoid this closed section of trail that is being reconstructed, as safety is of the upmost importance.

The CSAH 5 project is expected to be complete in the fall of 2018.

Midwest Contracting is the prime contractor on the $6.7 million project.

Motorists are reminded to always drive with caution, slow down in work zones, and never enter a road blocked with barriers or cones.
