Two-hour completion time continues for nurse aide candidates to complete Knowledge Test
Nurse Aide Knowledge Test remains at two hours
MDH is committed to maintaining a high standard for nurse aide training and competency, while also ensuring that candidates with diverse backgrounds and learning styles are supported as they work towards becoming certified nurse aides.
Background
In October 2022, MDH increased the time allowed to complete the Nurse Aide Knowledge Test to two hours, to ensure all candidates would have the best opportunity to be successful.
In October 2023, MDH reviewed the data/conversations with partners and MDH leadership. The decision has been made to continue with the two-hour timeframe to ensure all candidates can be successful.
What do I need to do?
If you are a nurse aide candidate who is taking the Knowledge Test, make sure that you are able to complete the test within two hours. If you need an accommodation for a disability or limitation, please refer to the MN Nursing Assistant Candidate Handbook.
If you are a training program or test site, make sure that your reference materials used by candidates or proctors reflect the two-hour completion time.
Thank you!
MDH would like to thank all of our nurse aide training programs, testing sites, and candidates for their feedback and cooperation through this process. MDH will continue to monitor nurse aide training and competency testing to recruit and support our healthcare workforce in their mission of caring for all Minnesotans.
More information is available on the MDH Nurse Aide Testing Information website.
