Common issues and resolutions are listed below; however, please understand that unexpected and previously unexperienced issues may arise during the broadcast that we may not be able to resolve. Thank you.
Common issues and resolutions
- To get the slide image and video to take up more room on a laptop or other device, try reducing the text size.
- Safari 7.0 and 6.1 browsers include a feature called Safari Power Saver, which is intended to disable plug-ins in order to conserve battery power. When hovering over the video window of a presentation, there should be an icon that appears which you can click on in order to allow the plug-in on that webpage. However, we have seen cases where this icon does not appear properly. If this happens, you must disable Power Saver completely in order to allow the plug-in to run. To disable the Power Saver function, enter Safari Preferences, go to the Advanced tab, and uncheck the box to "Stop plug-ins to save power". Reload the webpage containing the Mediasite presentation and it should play properly.
- Newer versions of Microsoft Internet Explorer may require Compatibility Mode activated to view the broadcast.
- Some Mac users have problems viewing Mediasite programs and others do not. We recommend using a PC rather than a Mac to avoid any last-minute issues.
- To avoid audio and video problems, use a “hard-wired” Internet connection to view live broadcasts.
- For intermittent audio and video issues, particularly with PowerPoint slides advancing, refresh your browser window and/or disconnect and reconnect to the broadcast.
Note the following requirements for viewing Mediasite broadcasts on a Windows system:
- Microsoft Windows 10, Windows Server 2008 (requires the Desktop Experience), Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista.
- Microsoft Internet Explorer 7.0 or later (but see above for information on Compatibility Mode), Firefox 3.6 or later.
- Windows Media Player 9.0 or later.
- Adobe Flash for Smooth Streaming playback in Chrome; Microsoft Silverlight 5 for Smooth Streaming playback in all other browsers
- Broadband Internet connection.
Test your system and Internet connection by visiting the Sonic Foundry website before signing on.
