Youth leadership opportunity at Hennepin County Library

library

Hennepin County Library is accepting applications for a formal Library Youth Advisory Committee. Hennepin County commissioners will appoint a total of 14 youth – two for each district – for one-year terms.

The committee was created to provide youth with real-world opportunities to influence library resources, spaces, and practices to make them increasingly accessible and appealing to all youth. Committee members will develop their leadership abilities and gain lifelong skills for civic engagement.

Applicants must:

  • Live in Hennepin County
  • Be 16-19 years old
  • Be able to serve a 1-year term (September 2023 – August 2024)
  • Commit to a monthly meeting

Hennepin County Library is committed to supporting Youth Advisory Committee members. The library will work to ensure that technology, internet access, and transportation are not barriers to participation.

Apply online. Application deadline is Friday, June 23.

Twin Cities Pride Festival and March

JUN 23 AT 10 AM – JUN 25 AT 10 PM

Loring Park

This year’s Twin Cities Pride Festival and March theme is Elevate and Amplify. It is more important than ever to understand and act with intentionality, purpose and to highlight different voices while bringing other marginalized communities with us. We are working on plans for Pride weekend and can’t wait to share more details soon. Inclusion is one of our core values at Twin Cities Pride, and we are going to make space for people to show up as they are, amplify their voices and highlight the many cultures of our community along with our strength and determination. We will stand together and show the world that we are here and will not be silenced. We will also give space to youth to show their true colors and see they are our future, and they matter. Lastly, we will celebrate our community and support each other as we always have.
Keep an eye out on our socials as we get closer to Pride weekend and start announcing, performers, vendors, events, etc. See you all soon!!
