North Minneapolis Agent Involved Shooting

April 27, 2023 (Minneapolis) - Today, beginning at approximately 6:00 a.m., the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) executed a high-risk warrant with the assistance of county and local law enforcement partners on the 3700 block of Dupont Ave N.

The execution of the warrant led to a barricaded adult male who was named in the warrant. Negotiations with the armed, barricaded male took place for several hours.

During this incident, the male was livestreaming on social media and displaying firearms.

At approximately noon, an Agent Involved Shooting (AIS) occurred with the armed, adult male who was the subject of the warrant. Lifesaving efforts were rendered, and the male was transported by ambulance to the hospital. Despite all lifesaving efforts, the male later died. A second individual who was present throughout the incident was transported to the hospital for medical care.

There were no Minneapolis Police Officers involved in the use of force.

Upon initial review, it was learned a Hennepin County Sheriff’s Deputy discharged a less lethal launcher during the incident.

This AIS is being investigated by federal law enforcement as a federal law enforcement AIS.

The Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office and the Minneapolis Police Department are committed to supporting the federal investigation into this AIS.

Media inquiries seeking further information should be directed to the FBI’s Minneapolis Field Office.
