Hennepin County Sheriff Foundation and Hennepin County Sheriff's Office Hosting "Hooked on Fishing" Event on August 18

August 16, 2022 (Spring Park) – The Hennepin County Sheriff Foundation (HCSF), in partnership with the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO), is proud to host the 13th annual “Hooked on Fishing” event.

More than two dozen kids from Brooklyn Park’s recreation programs will spend the morning on Lake Minnetonka fishing with deputies. For many children, this will be their first time fishing, as well as a positive interaction with law enforcement.

“This program gives kids the opportunity to connect with the outdoors in Minnesota and learn about boating safety,” said HCSO Chief Deputy Tracey Martin. “It also serves as a foundational experience in building a positive relationship between children and law enforcement. We are very pleased to help with this fantastic event.”

The program teaches angling skills to kids, reinforces personal development, and strengthens the children’s connection with nature.

WHEN: Thursday, August 18, 9:00 a.m. – Noon

WHERE:  HCSO Water Patrol HQ, 4141 Shoreline Drive, Spring Park, Minnesota 55384

The Hennepin County Sheriff Foundation (HCSF) is a non-profit charitable organization dedicated to strengthening public safety through youth-based activity programs, education, intervention, and outreach.

While entirely independent of the HCSO, the Foundation collaborates with the agency to identify and prioritize special needs that are not funded through the Hennepin County budget process.
