COVID-19 emergency staffing to end Aug. 31

With vaccination rates rising, COVID-19 cases dropping, and the end of the state peacetime emergency on July 1, 2021, the need for emergency staffing has diminished. Therefore, the emergency staffing program will end on August 30, 2021. If you experience a staff shortage due to an outbreak of COVID-19 after that date, please refer to your facility’s emergency operation plan.

During its nine months of operation, the Emergency Staffing Pool was able to provide nearly 18,000 hours of staff time to 67 facilities throughout the state. These emergency workers helped facilities avoid evacuating residents and ensured that needed care was delivered to residents despite an outbreak of COVID-19.
