Behavioral Health Planning Council Renewing Applications| Application Due: January 16, 2017
The Mental Health Division and Alcohol and Drug Abuse
Division of the Minnesota Department of Human Services are in the process of
renewing applications for the Behavioral Health Planning Council.
Beginning immediately, we will accept applications for council membership to
fill 25 - 30 vacant seats. Council terms will begin on March 6, 2017 and
expire on September 1, 2019 for this membership application cycle.
Behavioral Health Planning Council
The Behavioral Health Planning Council is an integrated
mental health and substance abuse council that monitors, reviews and evaluates the
Alcohol and Drug Abuse and Mental Health Division's combined federal block

Responsibilities
- Review
Federal Block Grant plans and applications and submit recommendations for
modifications to the plans and applications.
- Review
concerns and services for adults with serious mental illness, children
with serious emotional disturbances and persons with, or at risk for,
substance abuse and substance use disorders.
- Monitor,
review and evaluate the allocation and adequacy of mental health services
and substance use disorder treatment within the state.
- Participate
in other council activities under the direction of Mental Health
and Alcohol and Drug Abuse Divisions.
Meeting Information
The Behavioral Health Planning Council will meet 4- 5 times
a year. The council meetings will be held in St. Paul, MN. The tentative dates
and times for 2017 are as follows:
- March 6, 2017
- May 1, 2017
- August 7, 2017
- November 6, 2017
Compensation
- $55 per diem
- Mileage (the current IRS rate of $.54/mile)
Meals, parking, lodging and child care expenses will be
reimbursed according to DHS policy.
