At the State Land Bank Authority, we understand it is our job to make the lives of Michigan families better.
We do this by embracing our mission of enhancing communities by creating housing and improving property.
Our dedicated team, working alongside our local land bank partners, have made neighborhoods safer, provided affordable housing for families across Michigan and put hundreds of properties back on local tax rolls - meaning increased tax dollars for localities to fund initiatives like roads, infrastructure and more.
Over the last two years, we have administered $150M through the Blight Elimination Program, directly investing in revitalization of problem properties and helping transform neighborhoods across Michigan.
We also welcomed a handful of new local land banks who are helping us eliminate blight. Additionally, we redeveloped a former prison site into a new Meijer store and another prison site into a planned 250-unit housing project.
SLBA also created a unique new partnership with a land conservancy to redevelop nine acres of Northern Michigan waterfront property utilizing a community driven development process. Through focusing on people, SLBA will continue its innovative approach of transforming unproductive properties into assets for the state and communities across Michigan.
