What's happening downtown?

University Meadows

  • A payment in lieu of taxes for Develop Detroit, Inc. to re-develop University Meadows, a senior housing apartment (pictured left). Phase I will renovate the building, and Phase II will build new mixed-income apartments and small scale retail. None of the current seniors will be displaced during renovation, and they will continue to pay rents at or below 60% of area median income. 

 

City Council approvals:

  • $1 million for the Housing and Revitalization to complete 90 home lead abatement projects for families with pregnant women and small children.
  • A United Community Housing Coalition initiative to help 15 families purchase foreclosed homes that did not sell in the Wayne County Auction.
