Mike Richard, Maine Forest Service District Forester, and Merle Ring, retired District Forester, will cover the basics of tree planting including sourcing seedlings, planting methods, and disease and pest damage prevention. Following the morning talk and lunch (included) participants will get hands-on experience planting trees at a nearby location.

DESCRIPTION:
The Chainsaw Safety Level 1 Workshop will provide participants with a well-rounded introduction on how they should safely handle, maintain and use a chainsaw. Topics will include an overview of chainsaw safety equipment and features, maintenance, sharpening, proper cuts, a step-by-step tree felling demonstration and more. Much of this workshop will be hands-on and participants will come away feeling comfortable handling and working with a chainsaw.
