As we prepare for storms expected to move through our region tonight, I encourage everyone to stay safe and take the necessary precautions for themselves and their families. Please allow extra travel time, check on neighbors, especially our seniors, and stay informed as conditions change.
In this edition, you will find important updates and resources designed to support our community. Included is information on Phase II of the Senior Support Fund, which is helping address the increased costs many residents are experiencing with their Pepco energy bills. You will also find information about veterans' services and additional programs available to support residents across District 8. For those interested in the broader financial outlook for our County, we have included the Budget in Brief from County Executive Braveboy, which outlines key priorities and investments.
Thank you as well to the many residents who continue to report potholes through Prince George's County 311. Winter weather, snow, and road salt can worsen road conditions, but thanks to your reports, streets across District 8 are being addressed. Please continue submitting requests so we can ensure repairs happen as quickly as possible.
As always, thank you for staying engaged and connected with our office. Your partnership helps us continue building a stronger, safer, and more resilient District 8 community. You will soon see information arriving in your mailboxes about the District 8 Investment Academy, an initiative designed to help residents build financial knowledge and strengthen long-term economic opportunity.
Lastly, we continue to celebrate the extraordinary women during Women's History Month who shape our communities, families, and future, and we wish each of you great success with your March Madness Brackets!
Sincerely,
Council Member Edward Burroughs III, District 8
