Black History Month
As we celebrate Black History Month, we honor the rich legacy, resilience, and achievements of Black leaders, past and present, who have shaped our nation and our own Prince George’s County. Our county has long been a beacon of Black excellence, innovation, and progress, and we take this time to reflect on the contributions of those who have paved the way for a brighter future.
Let us use this month to learn, uplift, and continue the work of advancing equity and opportunity for all. Together, we celebrate the strength of our community and the power of Black history in shaping the world we live in today.
Sincerely, Council Member Sydney J. Harrison Prince George’s County, District 9

Discolored Water
Experiencing discolored water after a water main repair is a common occurrence. While the water remains safe to drink, WSSC Water advises against using discolored water for laundry, as it may cause staining. To clear the discoloration, flush your cold water lines by running all cold water taps for about five minutes or until the water runs clear. Begin with the lowest faucet in your home or business and then open the other faucets one at a time, moving from your lowest floor to your highest. Once the water runs clear, turn off your faucets in the same order, from lowest to highest. If the discoloration persists after flushing, please report it to WSSC Water's Emergency Services Center at 301-206-4002 or via email at emergencycallcenter@wsscwater.com.
