Prince George's Proud: An Update From County Executive Alsobrooks
Dear Prince Georgians:
As we approach the season of gratitude, I am filled with immense pride for the progress we continue to make together in Prince George’s County. Over the past few weeks, our community has celebrated significant milestones that reflect our commitment to serving you and delivering on the Proud Priorities that guide our administration.
Earlier this month, we had the privilege of honoring our veterans at the annual Veterans Affairs Luncheon. This event reminded us of the sacrifices made by those who have served our nation with courage and dedication. It was an opportunity to express our heartfelt gratitude and reaffirm our commitment to ensuring that Prince George’s County remains a place where veterans and their families feel supported and valued.
I am also thrilled to share that we continue to expand affordable housing options in our community. Last week, we celebrated the opening of a new multifamily community in Hyattsville, a vital step toward addressing housing affordability and ensuring that all residents have a safe, secure, and dignified place to call home.
Additionally, we continue to enhance healthcare access with the opening of the Pyramid Healthcare facility in Greenbelt. This new, modern facility is a testament to our dedication to improving healthcare infrastructure and ensuring that all residents can access the services they need to thrive.
At the heart of all these efforts is our unwavering commitment to centering your needs and building a community that works for everyone. From affordable housing to healthcare, public safety, education, and economic opportunity, we remain laser-focused on delivering results that improve the quality of life for every Prince Georgian.
As we prepare to celebrate Thanksgiving, I want to wish each of you a joyful holiday filled with love, warmth, and gratitude. I also encourage you to visit the Department of the Environment section on our website for important updates to waste collection schedules during the holiday week. Let’s continue working together to keep our communities clean and vibrant.
Thank you for your support and trust as we work to move Prince George’s County forward. Together, we are making incredible strides, and I look forward to all we will achieve in the weeks and months ahead.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!
Warm regards, Angela D. Alsobrooks County Executive
Yours in Service,
Angela Alsobrooks Prince George's County Executive

This program funds projects within Prince George’s County, Maryland, excluding the City of Bowie, which manages its stormwater program independently of the County. As a result, projects in the City of Bowie are not eligible for funding in this program.
Who Can Apply: Non-profit organizations, Prince George’s County municipalities, watershed organizations, education institutions, community associations, faith-based organizations, civic groups, and more.
The deadline to apply is Thursday, December 12, at 4:00 PM. DPIE Targets Littered Lots for “Cleaning”
Since July 1, the County has authorized the Department of Permitting, Inspections, and Enforcement (DPIE) to clean 50 properties after owners refused to bring them into compliance with maintenance standards. Contractors haul away junk, cut lawns, pruned vegetation, boarded up abandoned structures, etc. Liens are then placed on the properties until the County is repaid. Property cleanups can be ordered by the County Administrative Hearing Unit or a judge.
Clearing littered properties helps maintain the beauty of County communities. Recently, properties were cleaned in Fort Washington and Clinton, as well as a massive cleanup at the old Marlboro Motor Raceway in Upper Marlboro, which included the removal of 300 vehicles, including 12 stolen cars and 3 boats. Several unlicensed businesses were also discovered operating on the property.
Residents are encouraged to report property maintenance violations to PGC311. Contact DPIEPIO@co.pg.md.us for more information.
