Showcasing Our Services: Future Resource Learning with Cory Morgan
During his tenure as a physical education teacher, Cory Morgan had a passion for putting together programming for his students. He eventually discovered that he wanted to turn those ideas into a larger scale business. Since 2017, Cory and his nonprofit, Future Resource Learning, have been a staple in Montgomery County Recreation’s afterschool programs. The organization is currently up to 18 instructors and 20 classes each week.
“We are a team of educators,” Cory said. “All of our instructors are teachers, youth care professionals or childcare specialists. They are experienced people that understand children. We collaborate and have a series of cool courses.”
Several of these courses include a Future Chefs cooking class, a KidsFit 101 class geared toward sports and team-oriented goals, a Digital Art class that allows students to create graphics, logos and videos, as well as STEM World, which provides students with activities and the knowledge of STEM-filled industries including civil engineering, transportation and renewable energy.
“We’ve got to keep our kids sharp and engaged. We need things to work in our communities and we are here to make a real impact,” Cory said. “As a company, we must advance every year because we have to stay on top of current technologies so that we can continuously introduce each generation to what is happening around them. It’s extremely fun! We experience something new and exciting every year.”
Cory and his team talk throughout the year with parents of participants. They help provide advice and feedback for the great experiences their children had in their programs.
“Our instructors are dedicated and love what they are doing because they are all in on the vision. You’ve got to be passionate.”
Cory recognizes Montgomery County Recreation as an important support system that has allowed Future Resource Learning to thrive.
“MoCoRec is a well running machine,” Cory said “There’s been so many wonderful experiences from the staff. They’ve given us the opportunity to come out and do training. It’s a really great situation and we look forward to keeping that positive vibe rolling forward.”
As Future Resource Learning begins to approach a decade as a nonprofit organization, Cory said the passion for creating quality content for children, is what keeps him going and looking toward the future.
“I love what I do,” Cory said. “We’re building a great legacy. A company that really cares and that parents can trust. I don’t see this stopping. I think it’s that strong. I’m here in Montgomery County and I’m here to stay.”
