Carroll County Commissioners Disagree with Federal Ruling and Stand with Property Owners
Westminster, MD, Friday, June 20, 2025 –The Carroll County Board of Commissioners (BoC) is disheartened to learn this evening that a federal judge ruled for the Public Service Energy Group (PSEG), granting temporary access to private land. PSEG filed for temporary right to entry of 90 private properties.
The BoC denied PSEG access to county government owned land in late March stating, “Carroll County has been very clear that we are vehemently opposed to the Maryland Piedmont Reliability Project (MPRP), which would adversely impact the environment, our agricultural industries, and the quality of life of our citizens…… we are rejecting your request for permission to enter the captioned county properties, and we have no interest in granting any access rights which would facilitate this flawed project.” BoC has opposed the MPRP since the beginning and continues to stand with our citizens, landowners, and neighbors against this overreach.
The BoC also continues to use its influence with neighboring jurisdictions as well as state and national leaders to halt the project in its current form to mitigate any adverse impact this plan could have on the county’s citizens, community, and land.
