The prescription drug take-back at the zoo April 13 was a huge success! Councilwoman Raymond joined LMPD and Louisville Zoo staff to collect twelve full boxes having a total weight of 213.4 pounds!

A visit to the Buechel Train Depot 

Josie was happy to show LMPD 6th Division District Resource Officer Dan Marsden around the new Buechel Train Depot farmer's market.  Upcoming events at the depot include a vendor's market Saturday, April 26 and a farmer's market Sunday, April 27.

TARC information session meeting at Petersburg Library

Councilman Raymond joined Councilman Ben Reno-Weber, Councilwoman Dr. Barbara Shanklin, TARC Director Ozzy Gibson, and Shawn Reilly, TARC Marketing Coordinator on Monday evening, April 14. 

The Councilmembers partnered with TARC to host public informational sessions about the proposed TARC 2025 plans. 

Neighborhood meetings set for May 6 and May 10 for review of proposed pickleball/tennis facility plans

Many of us are watching with interest the proposed development of the meadow at Joe Creason Park into a pickleball and tennis facility. 

Please plan to attend two neighborhood meetings that have been set to review plans and provide more information. The developers, Parks Department and Office of Planning will be in attendance, as will Councilwoman Raymond:

Attend the “Slowest Two Minutes in Sports” for a great cause

Councilwoman Raymond invites the community to come out and enjoy a fun-filled afternoon at the 33rd Annual Turtle Derby on Saturday, May 17. This beloved event will feature a giant turtle wheel of chance, games of chance, raffles, fried chicken dinners, and more all to benefit a meaningful cause. Hosted by the Little Sisters of the Poor, the Turtle Derby raises critical funds to support the elderly residents of St. Joseph’s Home. “This organization provides essential care of our low-income elderly residents,” said Councilwoman Raymond. “Many of them have never experienced the kind of nurturing support the Sisters provide. Every dollar raised goes directly back to St. Joseph’s Home. I encourage everyone to take part in this wonderful event and support this organization.” There are several ways to get involved today: Fill the Cart: Donate non-perishable groceries for the cart located in the lobby of St. Joseph’s Home. The fully stocked cart will be auctioned off on the Wheel of Chance. Contribute to Children’s Games: Drop off new toys to be used as prizes at the children’s booths. Stock Beverages: Donate individual soft drinks or bottled water for the Sisters to sell during the event. Bake a Cake: Bring a homemade cake for the Cake Wheel. All contributions may be delivered to the Little Sisters of the Poor, St. Joseph’s Home, 15 Audubon Plaza Drive, Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Interested in sponsorship? The Little Sisters are also seeking sponsors to help make the Turtle Derby a success. LIHEAP Spring Subsidy Cooling enrollment begins

Kentucky households may qualify for a one-time electric benefit through the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) Spring Subsidy Cooling Component. Applications will be accepted from April 15 to May 30 on a first-come, first-served basis.

Spring Subsidy is designed to help households with incomes up to 150 percent of the Federal Poverty Guidelines offset their cooling costs. It provides a one-time electric benefit, which is paid directly to the household’s electricity vendor.

Jefferson County residents wishing to apply must schedule an appointment utilizing the automated appointment system. Appointments can be scheduled by phone by calling 991-8391 or online at louisvilleky.cascheduler.com. This toll-free service is currently open and is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

All applicants will be required to supply the following documentation at the time of application:

• Proof of Social Security Number or Permanent Residence card (Green Card) for each member of the household.
• Proof of income from the preceding month for all household members.
• Most current electric bill, statement from your landlord (if electric is included in your rent), or statement from your utility company if you participate in a pre-pay electric program.
• The account number and name on the account for your electric bill.

Spring Subsidy does not require a disconnect notice, a past due bill, or eviction notice. The Subsidy benefit can be applied as a credit on your account. Assistance received during previous LIHEAP components does not affect a household's eligibility.

PW crews will be popping up in their brightly colored safety vests to continue patching potholes. 1. Report online. An online map shows the current status of reports to Public Works.  2. District 10 events

April 19 - Brightside Community Cleanup, plan to join us

The District 10 staff will be ready to work on Saturday, April 19 as part of the Brightside Community-Wide Cleanup, so please plan on joining us!

We're teaming up with the Audubon Park group to clean up along Preston Highway. 

Next weekend, we'll be at the head of the Jim King Trail on Schuff Lane on Saturday, April 26 at 9 a.m. for the Colonial Hills cleanup. 

If April 19 doesn’t work for your group, you can organize a cleanup anytime throughout the year and Brightside will provide gloves and bags. Call Brightside at 574-2613 or register online about two weeks prior to your event to schedule your cleanup.

Short term rental enforcement continues in large part to be complaint-driven, based on public reporting of alleged violations to administrators. An interactive map tool contains all of the registered short term rentals in Louisville having an active permit to rent their property out to paying customers on STR websites like Airbnb.
