| Dear Neighbor,
MSD has advised us that the storm water system has reached capacity. Please use water sparingly.
Specifically, please refrain from using dishwashers or washing clothes unless absolutely necessary. Water is backing up into basements across town.
The rains over the past week have brought much more water into our community than we are accustomed to in such a short time frame. They are starting to flood roadways we use everyday including Six Mile Lane at Breckenridge Lane, which is currently closed.
This is due to the rains causing the Ohio River and associated creeks to rise rapidly. The Ohio is up 4 feet in the past 24 hours, with many more projected.
The City has begun closing flood gates and flood walls in the Please plan your travel accordingly.
Stay safe and off the roads unless travel is necessary. Also, please check on elderly neighbors and friends who are impacted by rising waters.
Enjoy the weekend,
Brent T. Ackerson 26th District Councilman
Due to the recent heavy rainfall, Louisville MSD’s sanitary sewer system has reached its capacity, and we need your help. To prevent further complications, we are asking residents to refrain from using large amounts of water that flow into the sewer system—please delay using your washing machine or dishwasher.
Our team is currently receiving a high volume of calls regarding sanitary backups. If you are experiencing a backup, please wait until the rain subsides to see if the water levels decrease. Once the rain has stopped, and if the water does not recede, please contact us at 502-540-6000.
