AGE-FRIENDLY LOUISVILLE INITIATIVE TO UNVEIL 2024-27 STRATEGIC PLAN AT PUBLIC EVENT
Louisville, KY. – Age-Friendly Louisville is proud to announce the release of its new strategic plan, covering the years 2024-2027. This plan will be unveiled during a kickoff event open to the public October 29, beginning at 10 a.m. at the South Central Regional Library.
Age-Friendly Louisville – a member of the AARP Network of Age-Friendly Communities – is committed to making Louisville a place where people of all ages can be engaged and active members of the community. It’s led in partnership by Louisville Metro Government, AARP Kentucky, KIPDA, and the UofL Institute for Sustainable Health and Optimal Aging.
Age-Friendly Louisville’s new strategic plan builds on the successes of the previous plan, emphasizing the need to address accessible housing and social isolation, while introducing a new Outdoor Enhancement initiative aimed at improving inclusivity and accessibility of outdoor spaces.
The plan reflects extensive community input from local organizations and key stakeholders, meant to ensure the initiatives address the diverse needs of Louisville’s residents.
“We are excited to implement our new strategic plan, which will guide our efforts to enhance the quality of life for residents from stroller to walker,” says Dr. Pamela Yankeelov, Director of Research at the University of Louisville Trager Institute. “Our goal is to foster a community where all residents can thrive, no matter their age.”
Key highlights of the 2024-2027 Strategic Plan include:
Advocating for affordable and accessible housing resources.
Beautifying and improving outdoor spaces with a focus on accessibility and safety.
Promoting intergenerational activities and community engagement.
