Building Bridges Silk Roads

You are invited to join District 21 Thursday, October 17th, 6 pm - 8 pm at the Passionist Earth & Spirit Center for another series of cultural exploration!
District 21, nestled in vibrant south-central Louisville, is a dynamic mosaic, with 25% of our residents hailing from diverse international backgrounds. To highlight this diversity, we organized a community gathering to exchange ideas and share cultural gifts. Inspired by the historic Silk Road – a converging of multiple routes connecting an array of civilizations – it facilitated trade plus a profound cultural exchange between East and West. We named our project Building Bridges – Silk Road as a bridge for our immigrants and native residents.
Before technological advancements connected our worlds, the Silk Road’s daunting terrain and paths introduced cultures to each other, shaping human civilization. Today, many opportunities exist to learn other cultures, but nothing compares to getting to know our neighbors, and building lasting relationships that help us understand each other’s strengths and common humanity.
Come and join us at the Passionist Earth & Spirit Center for an engaging experience filled with fascinating stories from Trinidad and Tobago, along with insights into their rich traditions. We aspire for this project to bring together diverse cultures in our city and cultivate a more united and harmonious community.
