Please join the Department of Justice (DOJ) for a community meeting on Monday April 8th, 2024, 6:00 - 7:30pm, at the Republic Bank Foundation YMCA, Community Meeting Room, 1720 West Broadway, Louisville, KY 40203. Their team, who conducted the investigation into the Louisville Metro Police Department, will discuss what consent decrees have done for other cities’ police forces, what the decree can do for LMPD, and what opportunities there are for community involvement throughout the implementation and monitoring process here in Louisville. Spanish and ASL interpretation will be provided.

Louisville Metro Government has partnered with the Kentucky Solar Energy Society (KYSES) and the Louisville Sustainability Council (LSC) to launch the third annual solarize campaign, Solarize Louisville (formally known as Solar Over Louisville), to give residents and small businesses bulk-purchasing power to obtain discounted wholesale rates for solar installation through vetted installers. Going solar helps property owners save energy costs, support local clean energy jobs, and help Louisville meet its goal of 100% clean energy community-wide by 2040! In the past two years, 150+ residents went solar through Solarize Louisville. Our selected installers for 2024 are Icon Solar Power and Pure Power Solar. Both installers are reputable regional companies offering the same standard panel price with a 12-18% discount.

April Anti-Racism Challenge

This is how it works -- once a week in April, participants will receive an email with a list of 10-12 anti-racism activities. These range from reading an article, contacting an elected official, watching a film or viewing an exhibit by Black artists, patronizing a Black business, etc. Listen, Learn, Act asks participants to choose and complete 3 of the listed activities. The purpose is to keep us all focused and active in challenging racism. This is a personal Challenge -- no one needs to report back. Those who wish to participate simply provide their email address (they never share anyone's information) and that puts them on the list to receive their ARC email each week. Potholes! What to do? Potholes are showing up everywhere! Why is that and how do they get fixed? Potholes are caused by water seeping into the cracks of asphalt. This is caused by water getting into surface cracks caused by a weakened asphalt. Winter in the Metro Louisville area can be brutal with the constant amount of rain and snow that we have in the area. If the asphalt is already weakened, then the pothole is inevitable. Potholes are hard on our cars! The good news? This is one of the easiest things to get fixed! How do you do that? Report it! Be sure to give the exact location. Report it by calling Metro311 or 574-5000 or complete a form online here. You can also report by using the Metro Call App! The link to download the app can be found here.  You may also give our office a call at 502-574-1112 or email Heather.Blazis@louisvilleky.gov and we will submit it for you.  Don’t forget to write down and keep the 311 case number when you call. That gives us a way to track the process. We have requested several pothole repairs in the last year and Public Works has done an amazing job of getting them fixed. Let’s make sure we continue to do that! Report it as soon as you see it! Let’s get them scheduled! Working together we will make sure that we take care of these as quickly as possible!
