The Louisville Metro area has been placed under a winter weather advisory by the National Weather Service starting 12:00 p.m. Friday February 16th until Saturday February 17th 1:00 a.m. Rain and snow showers expected before 10 p.m., changing over to all snow between 10 pm and midnight, expected snow accumulation of one inch.
The Metro Snow Team will report in at 5:00 p.m. today to work through the night applying salt to all 111 Metro snow routes (2,700 two-lane miles of roadway). Due to the rain expected before the snow, there will be no brine pretreatment on roadways.
February is National Spay/Neuter Awareness month, a cause that’s close to our hearts at the Kentucky Humane Society. Spaying/neutering is one way to combat the pet overpopulation crisis that is plaguing shelters nationwide. Did you know KHS has a CARE-a-van mobile veterinary clinic that travels to different spots in Louisville and other counties of Kentucky to provide low/no cost alteration surgeries in hopes of preventing unexpected litters? You can help KHS combat the overpopulation crisis by scheduling an appointment, spreading the word, and donating today. Louisville Metro Public Work’s Clean Collaborative initiative has once again partnered with KYTC District 5, to conduct a litter collection cycle along the interstates within Louisville Metro! The crews have been working on the interstates for the past two weeks and are currently working on I-264. During the month of January, those crews removed approximately 3,400 bags of debris from the interstates. Metro will also fund another collection during the month of March. Watch out for the crews in the reflective vests and use caution as you drive near their work areas!
Trash for Cash is a state program that helps ensure roadways around Louisville are kept clean while raising money for local community-serving non-profits!

Potholes are showing up everywhere! Why is that and how do they get fixed?
Potholes are caused by water seeping into the cracks of asphalt. This is caused by water getting into surface cracks caused by a weakened asphalt. Winter in the Metro Louisville area can be brutal with the constant amount of rain and snow that we have in the area. If the asphalt is already weakened, then the pothole is inevitable. Potholes are hard on our cars!
The good news? This is one of the easiest things to get fixed! How do you do that?
Report it! Be sure to have the address closest to the pothole.
Metro needs your help reporting potholes, use one of the methods below;
- Use an online form by clicking here.
- Use Twitter by sending the location of the hole to @LouMetro311 and include the hashtag #502pothole.
- Call Metro311 or 574-5000 to report potholes or any other issues.
Call our office at 574-1116, and we'll turn it in on your behalf.

- As Valentine’s Day approaches, BBB warns consumers to beware of romance scams. When trying out online dating sites and apps, don’t give out your personal or financial information to anyone you haven’t met in person, and be wary of any requests for money, gift cards, or wire transfers.
- 2. BBB received a report from a consumer regarding a wage garnishment scam. The consumer received a debt collection mail in the letter and upon contacting the alleged company, was instructed to pay the debt with a prepaid gift card. BBB reminds consumers that any time you are pressured to pay a bill with a gift card, it is likely a scam.
- 3. A consumer reported a scam to BBB regarding an alleged company called KRM Classic Auto. The consumer drove to Paducah in order to purchase a car from KRM Classic Auto, only to find the business didn’t exist and scammers were using a fake address. BBB reminds consumers to always check a company’s profile on bbb.org before making any purchases.
- 4. A consumer received a call from a scammer posing as a Deputy Sheriff, claiming the consumer had missed a court appearance as an expert witness. The consumer was instructed to pay fines over the phone. BBB reminds consumers that law enforcement agencies will never contact you by phone to demand payment.
- 5. A consumer reported a fake AutoZone survey to BBB. After completing the survey in order to receive a prize, the consumer realized their credit card had been charged multiple times for various amounts. BBB warns consumers to beware of unsolicited text messages and emails containing surveys. These are often phishing scams.
- 6. Multiple consumers have reported reshipping employment scams to BBB involving a scam company called Milladi Express. BBB reminds consumers that any job listing offering a position “examining packages” or “reshipping packages,” or any job that involves receiving other people’s mail at your home address, is a scam.
- 7. BBB has received reports of scam Medicaid and Medicare phone calls. BBB warns consumers to not give out personally identifiable information or government-issued numbers over the phone. Medicare will never contact you via email or phone to verify personal information.
- 8. BBB continues to see reports of Facebook Messenger scams. These scams involve Facebook users receiving a message that their profile or account will be deactivated unless they click on a link to confirm their account. This is a scam. Do not click on any links you received in unsolicited messages!
- 9. BBB has received reports of solar panel scams affecting our consumers. BBB warns consumers to be wary of phony sales reps offering solar panel installations for free or very low costs. Always verify a company first at bbb.org, and don’t fall for high-pressure sales tactics.
- 10. BBB received a report of a government grant scam from a local consumer. Any grant or scholarship that requires you to pay money upfront in order to receive a large payout is a scam.

Traffic Impacts: Lane closures, traffic shifts, and delays possible.
Date/Time: Daily/nightly.
Project Limits: KY 22 (Brownsboro Road)/Springcrest Drive intersection, near mile point 1.6.
Type of Work: The reconstruction of two 11-foot travel lanes and a left turn lane at the Springcrest Drive intersection are included in this project. A 6-foot sidewalk will also be installed along the north side of KY 22 between the entrance just east of Cliffwynde Trce and Brownhurst Cove Road.
Other Details: During phase 2 of the project, KY 22/Brownsboro Road will be reduced to one lane between Cliffwynde Trace and Pine Hurst Lane. Temporary signals will be placed to direct traffic through the work zone and will remain in place through the completion of the project.
* Springcrest Drive at KY 22/Brownsboro Road is closed as of Saturday, December 9. The existing lane closure on KY 22/Brownsboro Road, as well as the closure of Springcrest Drive at KY 22/Brownsboro Road, will continue through project completion, anticipated for the summer of 2024. *

Other Details: This project is pending final resurfacing, which is set to occur in the spring of 2024.

Project Limits: KY 841 North and South (Gene Snyder Freeway), between mile marker 35 and mile marker 37.5, near and through the East End Tunnel.
Type of Work: Routine maintenance of the roadway and East End Tunnel.
Other Details: Motorists should heed signage, use caution, and adjust commutes to accommodate the lane closures.

Project Limits: Between mile markers 47 and 52.
Type of Work: Four sets of bridges being replaced are over KY 2817 (Cardwell Lane) at mile point 51.5; KY 151 (Graefenburg Road) at mile point 46.4, South Benson Creek at mile point 49.1 and KY 1665 (Evergreen Road) at mile point 49.8. Flagging operations may be required on KY 151, KY 1665, and KY 2817.
Detour: Oversized vehicles are alerted to an 11-foot width restriction for eastbound and westbound directions in the construction zone. These vehicles can utilize U.S. 60 and U.S. 127 as a detour.
Other Details: The project is expected to be completed in the spring of 2024.

Type of Work: Crews to clear vegetation along the roadway.

Project Limits: North of Clifty Drive at mile marker 5.315 to Dry Ridge Road at mile marker 11.132.
Type of Work: Improvements to the asphalt pavement, shoulder repairs, guardrail repairs/installations, and the construction of a retaining wall at mile point 9.46 (adjacent to Stoney Creek) for slope stabilization.
Other Details: Alternating one-way traffic will be maintained through project completion, and motorists will be directed through the work zone via temporary signals. *A 9-foot-wide lane will be maintained for traffic through project completion, which is scheduled for the fall of 2024.*

Other Details: Motorists should heed any restrictions, cautiously proceed through the work zone, or seek an alternate route. The expected completion date for the interchange project is the fall of 2024.

*Daily blasting operations will occur on weekdays around noon, as crews prepare the roadway for the widening and realignment project. Motorists should anticipate temporary traffic stops in both directions lasting up to 30 minutes during the blasting and should proceed with caution through the work zone or seek an alternate route.
