Public Health and Wellness, Humana Foundation and Kroger team up to provide free grocery delivery to Healthy Start families in Louisville
The Louisville Metro Department of Public Health and Wellness (LMPHW) , the Humana Foundation and Kroger will be bringing free grocery delivery services to LMPHW’s Healthy Start families. This pilot program seeks to alleviate food insecurity by having groceries delivered directly to families’ front doors.
The Healthy Start program serves approximately 225 families with children under the age of 18 in five Louisville ZIP codes: 40203, 40208, 40210, 40211, and 40212. The program seeks to reduce infant mortality by helping families have healthy pregnancies and deliver healthy, full-term babies. The infant mortality rate for Black residents in those west Louisville neighborhoods is more than triple the rate of the Louisville Metro area as a whole.

National Influenza Vaccination Week is a great time to get your flu vaccine
National Influenza Vaccination Week (NIVW) is a critical opportunity to remind everyone 6 months and older that there’s still time to protect themselves and their loved ones from this flu this season by getting their annual flu vaccine if they have not already.
CDC data shows that flu vaccination coverage was lower last season, especially among certain higher risk groups, such as pregnant people and children. Our flu activity page reflects local flu cases reported to us by healthcare providers.
When you get a flu vaccine, you reduce your risk of illness and flu-related hospitalization if you get sick. This week is meant to remind people that there is still time to benefit from the first and most important action in preventing flu illness and potentially serious flu complications: get a flu vaccine today.
LMPHW provides vaccines for children and adults at its immunization clinics by appointment only. To schedule an appointment, call 502-574-5380 or visit the Public Health and Wellness’ Immunizations page. You can also visit our flu website to check out a listing of local health care providers that offer flu vaccines.
