The Louisville Metro Office for Women (OFW) was founded in 1991 with a focus on advancing the status of women in our community through education, advocacy and legislation.
The OFW is housed within the Office of Equity and our broad focus includes:

The Office for Women has been busy during the first quarter of 2023, welcoming our new Mayor Craig Greenberg and his leadership team. Highlights of the first quarter of 2023 include:
* Held a press conference during January/Stalking Awareness Month to share resources and launch our Domestic Violence/Gender Based Violence in the Workplace campaign (paid leave) for Louisville Metro Government Employees.
* Launched the Office for Women Ambassadors inaugural cohort of 24 women and gender diverse individuals who are participating in a 6-month leadership training program to build their leadership capacity and increase community engagement.
* Received a $10,000 Innovation grant from the U.S. Conference of Mayors to support language access and wraparound support for immigrant women who want to open family child care homes.
* Launched our #MakeGenderInequalityHISTORY campaign and training series on gender equity and gender mainstreaming, making sure that all in the community are empowered to share in the work of seeking gender equity.
* Hosted Ujima:The National Center for Violence Against Women in the Black Community for a two day training and capacity building session to increase protection and culturally specific services to Black women who are survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking and community violence.

Community Convening on Human Trafficking
We are hosting a Community Convening on Human Trafficking for all community members in partnership with the Bakhita Empowerment Initiative of Catholic Charities and Metro United Way.
Topics include:
• Racial Equity in Human Trafficking
• Housing for Survivors of Human Trafficking
• Strategic Planning for Trafficking Prevention in Louisville
The convening will take place on Monday, May 15th, from 8:30 am- 4:00 pm at the Louisville Central Community Center, 1300 W Muhammad Ali Blvd, Louisville, KY 40203.
The convening is free but registration is required. Food and childcare (offsite) will be provided.
Register today for this virtual series on gender based violence and health equity in partnership with Passport by Molina Healthcare.The training is open to all community members, health care workers, victim advocates, law enforcement and more!
Stay tuned for our upcoming panel discussions on gender segregation in work and policies that enhance gender equity! The 4-part series on women's economic status will conclude with a report with recommendations for our community.
Donate Diapers During Mayor's Give a Day!
The Office for Women is supporting St. Bernadette’s Diaper Bank this year for Mayor’s Give A Day throughout the month of April. The Diaper Bank provides diapers to organizations across Louisville who then distribute them to families in need. Last year, they increased the number of agencies they serve from 13 to almost 30 and need additional diapers to help meet the growing need. The highest need is for pull-up diapers and larger sizes (4-5).
Drop off diapers at donation bins in the Office for Women, outside of Suite 201 in Metro Hall and in the first floor lobby of Metro Hall at 527 West Jefferson Street.
