I-Move Traffic Alert: Lane Closure on Gene Snyder Friday - I-265 North will be reduced to one lane from KY 155/Taylorsville Road (Exit 23) to I-64 (Exit 25)

Contractor will perform shoulder work

Work on Interstate 265 (Gene Snyder Freeway) will require a lane closure Friday, Dec. 2. The work is part of the I-Move Kentucky project.

From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. tomorrow, I-265 North will be reduced to one lane from KY 155/Taylorsville Road (Exit 23) to I-64 (Exit 25) for shoulder work.

Work schedules may be adjusted due to weather or other unforeseen events.

Drivers should use caution when traveling through active work zones. Signage will be in place to alert drivers of active construction zones and closures.

Gilliland/Echo Trail to Reopen

Once the paving is complete this weekend, Echo Trail can be opened to thru traffic.  Please understand that rain or cold temperatures may affect the length of time that it will take to finish the repaving project and the opening of the road could be delayed until early next week.

In January, LG&E is scheduled to bring the pipeline in-service.  For the safety of construction workers and the public, these tasks will require us to either reduce a portion of Echo Trail traffic to either one lane or close the road entirely during pressure testing and tapping work.  These changes to the traffic pattern will last 1-2 days and LG&E will do their best to minimize the impact of thru traffic on Echo Trail.

Neighborhood meeting for a proposed change in zoning from R-4 to R-7 to allow a 76-unit apartment community on approximately 3.92 acres on property located on the north side of Taylorsville Road just east of Blankenbaker Pkwy at 11311 Taylorsville Road

Dear Neighbor:

We are writing to invite you to a meeting we have scheduled to present neighbors with our zone change plan to allow a 76-unit apartment community to be located as above.

Accordingly, we filed a preliminary plan for pre-application review with the Division of Planning and Design Services (DPDS) that was assigned case number 22-ZONEPA-0161 and case manager, Jay Luckett. The applicant is proposing to build 3, 3-story apartment buildings (one of which is shown as a 3 story/4 story
building due to walkout level) with 148 surface parking spaces. Access is proposed from Taylorsville Road and Ramblin Creek Road. We would like to show and explain this draft plan to neighbors so that we might hear what thoughts, issues and concerns you may have.

In that regard, a meeting will be held on Monday, December 12, 2022, beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the Jeffersonian located at 10617 Taylorsville Rd, Jeffersontown, KY 40299.

Enclosed for your review are the following:
1. A preliminary draft development plan
2. LOJIC site location zoning map sheet showing the location of the site
3. Summary sheet of the proposed project
4. Contact information sheet, and how to obtain case info online from PDS online customer
service portal
5. PDS “After the Neighborhood Meeting” sheet
If you are unable to attend the meeting, or have any questions or comments, please feel free to email or call me
at the number listed above.
We look forward to our opportunity to visit with you.
Sincerely,

Santa is Making a One-Day Stop at the Zoo

Santa is Making a One-Day Stop at the Zoo

Santa’s making a one-day stop at the Louisville Zoo on Saturday, December 10 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and he’s bringing enrichment treats for the animals with him!

At Santa’s Zoo Stop, guests can chat with St. Nick while staying warm in the Main Plaza Gift Shop. Children and the young at heart will also have an opportunity to write a letter for Santa to take back to the North Pole. Zoo docents will be nearby with animal ambassadors to meet. Those who adventure further into the Zoo will see some of their favorite animals engaging with special holiday-themed enrichment items customized just for them by Santa’s elves.

For an additional fee, guests can decorate cookies for $4.99 per cookie or 2 for $7.99 and grab a hot chocolate while in the Gift Shop for $3.99, or even enjoy freshly roasted s’mores for $4.99 each on the Main Plaza. For more information and a list of the animal enrichment visit www.louisvillezoo.org/santas-zoo-stop.

Once again, the Zoo is teaming up with Kroger and Dare to Care for Kroger Wild Winter Days to help struggling families in our community. Guests who bring at least one canned food item per person may purchase discounted tickets at the Zoo windows for $9.75 per adult and $6.75 per child/senior ticket.

Since this partnership began in 2009, the Zoo has collected nearly 27,000 pounds of food thanks to the generosity of our guests. That’s equivalent to the weight of two African elephants like Mikki!

Ho ho hurry to the Zoo for this special day of fun! The Wild Winter Days discount is available at the gate only and is not valid for online purchases. The offer is not good for special fee-based programs, prepaid groups, field trips, or with other discounts. No refunds will be provided for tickets prepaid in advance or purchased online. Multiple cans are appreciated but only one discount per admission; additional cans do not provide additional discounts.

The Zoo is open daily year-round. Fall/winter hours are 10 a.m. ─ 4 p.m. (stay until 5 p.m.). The Zoo is closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Day.
