The Kentucky Solar Energy Society (KYSES) is thrilled to be back with the in-person 2022 Louisville Solar Tour on October 1. The tour will begin at 9:00 a.m. at Sullivan University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences at 2100 Gardiner Lane. If you are thinking of going solar, adding battery storage to your home, buying an EV, or installing a home car charger, then KYSES has an outstanding experience planned that will help you make all the right decisions. Nothing beats talking to those homeowners who have already made the move and will give you unbiased and honest answers on how the process went, and the tips and tricks they picked up on the way.
But wait that’s not all! KYSES has partnered with Evolve KY, the state's premier EV non-profit and advocacy group to provide chauffeured rides in all the latest EV's to the carefully selected solar show homes! Teslas of all models, Rivians, VW, Kia, Ford, Nissan, Chevy….take your pick! Learn more and sign up for free.

Installation of Louisville’s first permanent crosswalk art was completed this month at the intersection of 4th Street and Jefferson Street! The Louisville Metro Office of Advanced Planning and Sustainability, along with the newly formed Office of Arts & Creative Industries, coordinated the artist selection and installation. Louisville-based artist Jessica McAlpin was selected through an open call for artists to design and install art in each of the four crosswalks at 4th and Jefferson Streets, with an all-white design that focuses on pattern. This project is the first to be installed under the new Community Crosswalks Program, which will officially launch later this fall.
The Louisville Sustainability Council (LSC) is proud to host the annual virtual Louisville Sustainability Summit - Louisville 2030: A Better Tomorrow Begins Today on October 6 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., with an in-person after party from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Against The Grain Smokehouse. For this year's Louisville Sustainability Summit, the LSC is convening local and regional leaders in the business, nonprofit, and government space to speak on policy, activism, and the sustainability movement required to shape a community vision for Louisville 2030.
With an ever-increasing urgency to address and mitigate the effects of climate change and environmental injustice, this event features key examples of projects and programs focused on infrastructural solutions needed to address the sustainability and equity issues we face. Speakers and community members will share their vision, goals, and specific strategies for creating the Louisville we collectively envision by 2030. In addition, this event will highlight the work of local artists, youth activist voices, and emerging leaders from local, regional, and national sustainability perspectives.
