Areas all over Louisville have experienced an increase of speeding and reckless driving and District 25 is no exception. Speeding is dangerous and illegal and I’m glad to see LMPD working to educate the public and increase traffic law enforcement.
Watch this Public Service Announcement for LMPD – and slow down out there!

The next Community-Wide Cleanup is happening Saturday, October 22nd! Be a part of this city-wide event to keep Louisville looking bright and beautiful by signing up here. Registration goes live September 5th.
We encourage all residents make a difference by taking part in our Community-Wide Cleanup-- it is a great service opportunity for boy/girl scouts, sports teams, faith groups, community organizations, and corporate teams.
Cleanups are an integral part of Brightside's mission and without the help of volunteer groups, and many other volunteers throughout the year, Brightside could not achieve our goals of a cleaner, greener Louisville.
Neighborhoods can hold their own cleanups at any point throughout the year and we can provide gloves and bags for each Neighborhood Cleanup. We will work with Solid Waste Management to have the collected litter bags picked up. Give us a call at (502) 574-2613 or register online about two weeks prior to your event to schedule your cleanup and for information about getting supplies.

"The culvert on Blevins Gap Rd has encountered 2 issues which will delay construction. First, I sent over the construction items for Louisville Paving, who hold the Metro Safety improvements contract, to price for me to try and avoid more time going through procurement. Upon reviewing the request. They immediately responded back to let me know that the beams needed to support the bridge deck would not be available until September at the earliest. Upon hearing that news, I asked our consultant if there were any design alternatives and what those increased costs may be which they replied that they anticipated lead time challenges regardless of what changes they could possibly make. This does not surprise me given the current times.
Secondly and in addition to this, we were notified yesterday from the consultant that there are endangered long-eared bats in the area which utilize trees that need to come down in order to complete work. The Corp of Engineers is requiring us to not cut down trees until October 15 or later, otherwise we would be required to make a contribution to assist in relocating the bats. We reached out to the Corps of Engineers to discuss our position and they strongly recommended that we not try to expedite construction.
Given these issues, I still want to complete the project this year if possible. I was informed that we can start construction as long as we did not remove the trees, so I will push to get as much done as we can between now and October. But, we will not be able to complete the project in summer of 2022 as I had originally hoped.
We apologize for any inconvenience to those affected.
Please contact myself or Jeff Brown through email if needed. I will keep you updated of any other news regarding this project as it comes to my attention."
Thank you,
