What: Miracle League of Louisville Night at the Louisville Bats

**Plenty of accessible seating (in the shade) has been reserved. Tickets are $12 for accessible seating in the shade, and $10 for "some" evening sun in the accessible reserved seating**

When: Friday, June 10th at 7:05 p.m. (Gates open at 6:00 p.m.)

Be sure to enter the Miracle League of Louisville player/family name in the "message box" when ordering tickets, so we can track which player/family sells the most tickets for the game. The family that sells the most tickets will receive a $50 VISA gift card, and the runner-up will receive a $25 VISA gift card.

Also, there will be a drawing for three opportunities for a Miracle League player to get a chance to have an "on-field" experience! Players attending the game will be placed in a drawing for one of the following:

Throw out the ceremonial first pitch
Announce "Play Ball"

Parklands of Floyds Fork Turtle Derby

The Parklands to Host Junior Explorer Event Saturday, May 21

Celebrate World Turtle Day with The Parklands Turtle Derby

Louisville, Ky. (May 12, 2022) —Families are invited to celebrate the slowest two minutes in sports at The Parklands Turtle Derby on Saturday, May 21, 2022. Through crafts, face painting, science stations, and hikes, participants will learn about the turtles that call The Parklands home. The event will culminate with the slowest two minutes in sports, The Parklands Turtle Derby! Well known Parklands turtles Russel and Randy will compete for glory against turtles from around the community including the Louisville Nature Center and Kentucky Herpetological Society.

The drop-in event takes place from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. in and around the Ogle Foundation Woodland Pavilion in Broad Run Park, 10702 Broad Run Parkway Louisville KY, 40291. Park visitors can stop in any time to participate in family-friendly activities. Weather permitting, all activities will take place outdoors or under covered pavilion space. The event is free and open to all. Registration is not required to participate in crafts, games, face painting, science stations or hikes.

PHOTO OPPORTUNITY

Junior Explorers will get a chance to hike the Riparian Ramble trail to spot turtles, participate in turtle circle time, make derby themed turtle crafts, and watch The Parklands Turtle Derby! The schedule of events is as follows:

10:30 a.m. and 11:45 a.m. Turtle Trek- hiking the Riparian Ramble Trail to spot turtles and pick up trash

10:30 a.m. and 11:45 a.m. Pre-k Circle Time- ranger-led activities geared towards pre-k age children

11:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m. Face Painting

1:00 p.m. Turtle Derby Race- the slowest two minutes in sports

The Junior Explorer program gives kids a chance to get outside and explore the park with their families and The Parklands education team. These drop-in events occur once a quarter, featuring changing topics and locations. Families learn together by doing interactive science experiments, crafts, hikes, and other hands-on nature activities.

Programs for all ages are in full swing at The Parklands, including weekly Wednesday Wonders for pre-k and elementary aged children, Park Roots presentations, a new Walking Club and more. BBB May 2022 Hot Topics

BBB has received multiple reports from consumers regarding employment offers from Navis Worldwide. This is a reshipping scam. If you see any work-from-home job listings that involve receiving other people’s packages or mail directly to your home, report the listing to BBB at bbb.org/scamtracker

Several consumers have reported ordering products from a Facebook shopping group but have yet to receive the items and report they’ve either been given fake tracking information or told the item was lost by the postal service. BBB warns consumers to use caution when shopping online and to read reviews and reports on bbb.orgbefore making purchases.

BBB continues to receive reports of scam phone calls claiming to represent Amazon customer support. Be advised that Amazon will not call you to verify charges to your account. If you receive a suspicious call, text, or message claiming to be from Amazon, log onto Amazon.com to check the status of your account and to contact their customer support directly.

Puppy scams aren’t going away anytime soon. BBB has received reports recently of puppy scams in the area. When buying a new pet, make sure you see the animal in person first, check the breeder’s credentials and references, and only pay with a secured method such as a credit card. Adopting from an accredited charity is also an excellent way to find your next pet!

BBB continues to receive reports of cryptocurrency scams. These scams are costing people hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars. If anyone contacts you with an “investment opportunity” that seems too good to be true or promises huge returns immediately, it is likely a scam.

Fake Publisher’s Clearing House calls are making the rounds again, as consumers have reported to BBB. The real Publisher’s Clearing House only notifies their winners by mail, not by telephone. Any “sweepstakes organization” that asks for money upfront to claim a grand prize is very likely a scam.

BBB warns of employment scams that take place over messaging apps. If a “recruiter” contacts you and asks you to download a messaging app such as Telegram, be very wary. Victims have been scammed by fake recruiters who claim to need their personal and financial information for new hire paperwork; these victims then have their identities stolen. Research any job offer first, be careful with your personal information, and beware of “easy hires” – companies who want to hire you without meeting you or conducting a job interview.

Celebrating a loved one’s graduation this month? Don’t get scammed when purchasing a gift! Research online shops, flower companies, and other retailers first before buying. You can read reviews and see a company’s rating at bbb.org.

May is National Moving Month, and BBB wants consumers to avoid moving scams. When working with a moving company, be wary of unusual requests such as full payment in advance, get everything in writing, keep an inventory of your belongings, and check reviews and ratings first at bbb.org.

BBB warns consumers not to fall for home warranty scams when buying a new home. Common signs of a scam include unclear terms, a difficult claims or cancellation process, and poor customer reviews. Calls or letters asking you to renew your home warranty are also a common scam.

I-64/I-65/I-71 Interchange (Spaghetti Junction): Nightly lane closures and delays are possible while crews perform striping work in a mobile operation between the hours of 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. Motorists should provide plenty of space to crews displaying “WET PAINT” signage and be observant of slowed vehicles while moving through the work zone.

I-65 North & South: Left lane of I-65 North will be closed from 8 p.m. on Monday, May 23, to 5 a.m. on Tuesday, May 24, from exit 136 A for Broadway and Chestnut Street to near exit 137 for I-71 and I-64. Left lane of I-65 South will be closed from 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 24, to 5 a.m. on Wednesday, May 25, from exit 136 C for Jefferson Street and downtown to mile marker 135 where motorists merge onto the interstate from South First Street at Jacob Street. The southbound on-ramp at South First Street and Chestnut Street will also be closed. A contractor will be collecting concrete cores in bridge decks to assess six bridges in that corridor.

I-65 South: Left lane closed at mile marker 136, just south of the Kennedy Bridge. The lane was initially closed on March 4 after the elevated roadway bridge was severely damaged by a coil of steel that fell off a semitrailer. After multiple inspections, it was determined that the lane would remain closed for the safety of the motoring public. It’s not an active construction zone. A contract has been awarded to make the necessary repairs. No start date has been set, but the estimated completion date is summer 2022.

I-265 South (Gene Snyder Freeway): Right lane closures are possible from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, May 23, through Friday, May 27, between exit 32 for Westport Road (KY 1447) and exit 30 for LaGrange Road (KY 146) to repair uneven concrete slabs.

I-265 South (Gene Snyder Freeway): Left lane on the exit ramp to Westport Road and Chamberlain Lane (exit 32) was closed in January 2021 after a vehicle struck the overpass. A contract has been awarded. The project is expected to be completed in summer 2022.

U.S. 31E (Buechel Bypass): Right lane of the bridge closed over the Norfolk Southern Railroad (mile point 10.4) due to findings from a routine inspection in 2021. It’s not an active construction zone, and the affected area isn’t visible while driving over the bridge. KYTC has signed an agreement with the railroad, and a contract has been awarded to perform the necessary repair work. No start date has been set, but the estimated completion date is winter 2022.

U.S. 31E (Baxter Avenue): The bridge carrying traffic over South Fork, a branch of Beargrass Creek, is closed for repairs. Signs in the area will direct drivers to utilize East Liberty Street and Lexington Road during closure. The project is expected to be completed this summer.

KY 1450 (Blue Lick Road): Weekday lane closures between Gene Snyder and Preston Highway for road widening work. The project is expected to be completed in summer 2023.

KY 1747( Hurstbourne Lane/Fern Valley Road): Overnight lane closures are possible from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. between the railroad crossing, just east of KY 2052 (Shepherdsville Road), and U.S. 31E (Bardstown Road). The closures are for asphalt milling and paving. The project is expected to be completed in fall 2022.

Stonebridge Road: Bridge carrying Stonebridge Road over Muddy Fork, a tributary of Beargrass Creek, near the Blankenbaker Lane intersection is closed. Detour signs will direct motorists to use Blankenbaker Lane and River Hill Road during closure. The construction of a replacement bridge is expected to be completed in late spring 2022.

Jefferson County (Various Locations): Nightly lane closures and delays are possible while crews perform striping work in a mobile operation between the hours of 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. Motorists should provide plenty of space to crews displaying “WET PAINT” signage and be observant of slowed vehicles while moving through the work zone.
