Welcome, Auburndale Learning Academy!

fdsafsdasfdsfdasfdsfdasfdasfd

Councilwoman Amy Holton Stewart welcomes the Greater Louisville Head Start Auburndale Learning Academy to District 25!

Are you looking for a quality childcare facility in our community? Greater Louisville Head Start has just the facility for you and your child.

The Auburndale Learning Academy plans to open soon at 7604 Third Street Road, Louisville, KY 40214 in District 25!

Call 502-974-1206 or fill out the online application form at: https://www.4cforkids.org/head-start/ to enroll in late May!

See the WLKY Article:

"The decor inside the Auburndale Learning Academy consists of warm, light wood and white walls that enhance the building's natural light, an approach meant to complement the cutting-edge Reggio Emilia philosophy behind the new child care center's approach to early childhood education.

It might seem like an unusual color scheme for a daycare, but these are unusual times.

"When we took this space on, we saw that it was a diamond in the rough, if you will," said Mia Cooper, of Greater Louisville Head Start. "It was an opportunity and a potential to bring child care in an area of the community that doesn't have access to high-quality services."

Indeed, the Auburndale and Iroquois neighborhoods are not the only areas in Louisville to lack high-quality child care – or any child care at all. The group Child Care Advocates of Kentucky estimates statewide capacity has been reduced 30 to 40% since the pandemic began." -

Bobby Nichols is Open For Business! Set your Tee Time Today!

Golf

This beautiful 9-hole course is named for Louisvillian and PGA professional Bobby Nichols. It has rolling terrain with tree-lined fairways and large, bunkered greens. The course tests your proficiency with irons and rewards a straight tee shot (as Nichols Creek is in play on eight holes). It is located in Waverly Park, which has an archery range, fishing lake, and hiking/mountain biking trails for family activities. The Pro Shop has full concessions. No club rental is available.

FootGolf

Bobby Nichols is Louisville's first certified public FootGolf course.  Footgolf is played as it sounds, as participants start each hole from a teeing area with a #5 soccer ball and kick to a green with a hole that's 21 inches in diameter.  The game is played at a quicker pace than regular golf, with an hour for every 9 holes as the average playing time. Bobby Nichols is a 9-hole course, so most of the regular holes on the course have two footgolf holes or more on them.

Golfers should wear flat sole shoes, tennis shoes or turf shoes.  Soccer cleats are not allowed.  Regular greens fees apply, and golf cart rentals are available.  In addition, soccer balls can be rented for $2 per round at the course.  The course will not open until after noon on weekends and holidays but will be available all hours during weekdays.

Enrollment Now Open for Spring LIHEAP

adfsasfdadsf

In response to economic challenges caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, Louisville Metro Office of Resilience and Community Services, as part of the Community Action Agency network in Kentucky, is now taking applications for an added spring open enrollment period for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). Applications will be accepted through June 30, 2021, or until designated funds are depleted on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Applicants for the Spring LIHEAP must be residents of Jefferson County with a household income at or below 150 percent of the federal poverty guidelines (e.g. for a household of four, the gross monthly income cannot exceed $3,313.00). This program assists with electric/gas (LG&E) or other energy utilities, or rent if utilities are included.  Residents can apply regardless of the status of their utility bills. The benefit amount awarded is based on an individual’s income and primary fuel type. Benefits are paid directly to the primary utility/fuel vendor (i.e. LG&E).

Jefferson County residents wishing to apply must schedule an appointment utilizing the automated appointment system.  Appointments can be scheduled by phone by calling 502-991-8391 or online at louisvilleky.cascheduler.com. The toll-free service is currently open and is available twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.

Copies of LIHEAP documentation, along with the downloadable Family Profile form and the Remote Processing form, should be dropped off at the LIHEAP site you select, on the day of your appointment.  Applicants will then be contacted by LIHEAP staff within 72 hours (3 business days) of the appointment time.

For more descriptions about LIHEAP income eligibility and  other instructions, visit https://louisvilleky.gov/LIHEAP. Residents may also call the automated LIHEAP information line at 991-8391 or visit www.louisvilleky.cascheduler.com.
