No Charges Filed in a Domestic Disturbance With Shots Fired

UPDATE:

Clay County - Prosecutor, Emily Clarke, notified the Indiana State Police that no criminal charges will be filed against Keegan Galloway from a domestic disturbance where shots were fired at 2055 West State Road 340 that claimed the life of Robert P. Blystone. Prosecutor Clarke stated, “This is a very unfortunate case where someone died, however the State cannot meet its burden to proceed with a murder charge.  Keegan Galloway acted in self-defense of himself and/or others, therefore he will not be charged with any crimes.”

No further information will be released in this case.

Positive Identification:  Clay County Coroner's Office has identified the deceased individual that was located at 2055 State Road 340.  The individual has been positively identified as:

Robert P. Blystone

Age 31

Brazil, Indiana

The family has been notified. 

The investigation is ongoing and there is no further information to release at this time.

Domestic Disturbance Turns Into Shots Fired

Clay County - Indiana State Police are investigating an overnight shooting on State Road 340 west of Brazil, that claimed the life of a Brazil, Indiana resident.

At approximately 9:00 p.m., February 16, 2020, the Clay County Dispatch Center received a 911 call reporting shots fired at 2055 State Road 340 west of Brazil, Indiana. The Brazil City Police Department and Clay County Sheriff's Department, along with first responders, immediately responded to the residence and upon their arrival found an individual located inside the residence with gunshot wounds.  The individual had already succumbed to injuries.  

An autopsy is being performed on the deceased subject today at 1:00 p.m., at Regional Hospital, Terre Haute, Indiana.  

The investigation is being conducted by Indiana State Police Detectives Jason Schoffstall, Don Curtis, and Mike Featherling, with the assistance of Sergeant Sam Stearley, and Crime Scene Technician Brandon Mullen of the Putnamville State Police Post.  

Assisting Agency:  Susie's Place, Brazil Police Department and the Clay County Sheriff’s Department.

Once the investigation is complete, a copy of the report will be forwarded to the Clay County Prosecutor's Office for review. 

All criminal defendants are to presumed innocent until, and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of  law.
