Two Arrested for Possessing Meth and a Stolen Gun

Henry County – A man and woman were arrested last evening after meth and a stolen handgun were found in their car.  About 11:30 p.m. last evening Trooper Earnest Paige was on SR 3 south of New Castle, around County Road 500 South, when he clocked a gray passenger car northbound on SR 3 doing 70 M.P.H. in the 55 M.P.H. zone.

Paige got the vehicle stopped and made contact with the driver, Steven Akers, age 27 of Indianapolis, who had no identification on his person. As he spoke with Akers and his female passenger, Maegan Trulock, age 20 of Greenwood, Paige could smell the odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. Henry County Deputy Jared Millikan was nearby and arrived on the scene, along with Troopers Hanna and Burns, to assist Paige.

Further investigation by the officers turned up a loaded, stolen handgun in the car as well as a baggy with suspected Methamphetamine.  The driver Steven Akers was arrested and charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Serious Violent Felon, Level 4 Felony; Possession of Methamphetamine, Level 4 Felony; Carrying a Handgun without a License Level 6 Felony and misdemeanor Driving While License Suspended.

His passenger Maegan Trulock was arrested and charged with Level 4 Felony Possession of Methamphetamine and Level 6 Felony Carrying a Handgun without a License.  Both were lodged in the Henry County Jail. Anyone with information about illegal activity may call the Indiana State Police Drug Tip Line at 1-800-453-4756, or the Pendleton Post at 765-778-2121. Tips can be made and kept anonymous.
