IRS Appoints DOR Commissioner Bob Grennes to ETAAC
The IRS has selected eight new members for the Electronic Tax Administration Advisory Committee (ETAAC), including DOR’s Commissioner Bob Grennes. He began serving his three-year term in September of this year.
The ETAAC is a public forum for discussing electronic tax administration. Established by law in 1998, the committee's original goal was to promote paperless filing of tax returns and other information, and the group’s focus has since expanded. Members also work to fight identity theft and refund fraud alongside the Security Summit, a joint effort of the IRS, state tax administrators, and the nation's tax industry.
"I am honored to be selected to join industry and IRS colleagues to be part of ETAAC's impactful work,” Grennes states. “I look forward to working together to find ways to improve the entire tax ecosystem, including both federal and state tax administration processes and the taxpayer experience. I also look forward to bringing innovative ideas and best practices back to Indiana as input to our never-ending service delivery and customer service improvement work.”
DOR Provides Tax Education through Tax Schools
Each year, DOR’s Business Outreach program provides tax practitioners with information on changes to Indiana tax laws, forms, agency processes and other issues. These presentations are part of Indiana University’s Tax Practitioner Institute and Purdue University’s Income Tax School, which offer two-day training workshops covering a variety of federal and state tax topics.
The 2023 Tax School season will include a mix of virtual and in-person workshops held across the state, providing opportunities to attendees to learn how to better serve Hoosiers in preparing returns for tax year 2023 and earn continuing education credits at the same time. For more and to register, refer to DOR’s Tax School information. We hope to see you there!
