Mayor Finkam celebrates successes, charts future at State of the City Address
At the annual State of the City address on Monday, Nov. 10, hosted by OneZone Chamber of Commerce, Mayor Sue Finkam celebrated a year of success in advancing what she described as a City of vision, innovation and heart, guided by the pillars of Inspiring Livability, Innovating for Impact and Investing in People. Highlights included Carmel's national rankings and the new designation as a Certified Better City for Pets. The Mayor also spotlighted critical infrastructure projects—from the White River Greenway to Monon Square North—and celebrated the community's resilience in overcoming challenges like the April tornado and state revenue cuts.
To further innovate for residents, the Mayor unveiled Carmel 311, a new platform that puts City services right in residents' pockets, allowing them to easily report and track issues like pothole repair and debris removal, ensuring the City continues to efficiently address community needs.

📣City Hall half-day closure today
City Hall will close at 12 p.m. (noon) today, for the remainder of the business day to support installation of a new emergency generator. (The building will reopen Monday, Nov. 17 at 8 a.m.)
By closing the building, we can safely interrupt power to the building, which is necessary for installation of the emergency generator.
All phone lines will be functional so that our residents and others can access support during the building closure. Additionally, there will be no interruption to Carmel Police and Fire department operations during the closure.

City honors Veterans and 'Families of the Brave'
Thank you to everyone who joined us for the City's annual Veterans Day Ceremony last Friday at the Tarkington Theater. Every year, we are dedicated to honoring the men and women who have served our country.
This year's theme, "Families of the Brave," paid special tribute to the sacrifices and unwavering support of military families.
We also enjoyed our annual tradition of celebrating the young talent in our community, recognizing the winners of the city-wide Veterans Day poster and essay contest from Carmel elementary schools.
Thank you again for showing your support for our veterans, military families, and the spirit of our community!

Applications accepted through Dec. 1
The City of Carmel announced the opening of the application window for residents interested in serving on City boards, commissions and committees. This is a unique opportunity for individuals passionate about their community to play a direct role in shaping its future.
Most seats on Carmel boards and commissions are filled by either the City Council or the Mayor. To encourage as many applicants as possible, Carmel City Council President Adam Aasen initiated the creation of a new online form that allows Carmel residents to easily submit applications to be considered for both council and mayoral appointments. President Aasen asked Councilors Dr. Anita Joshi and Tony Green to take the lead on the creation of this online form, which helps promote inclusivity and community involvement.

This is a multi-year, state-led project by INDOT to enhance the I-465/U.S. 31 interchange. Although not a City of Carmel initiative, it will significantly impact local traffic flow, particularly near the 106th Street and U.S. 31 corridor.
Phase 1 construction is underway and includes key closures such as the southbound U.S. 31 ramp to 106th Street and the closure of eastbound 106th Street under U.S. 31. For detailed detour maps, project timelines and the full scope of work, please refer to INDOT's official news release: INDOT Level Up 31 Project Update.

Take a quick survey
Help Carmel conserve water — Share your input in a short survey
As a valued member of our Carmel community, you play an important part in caring for the shared resources that make our city thrive — including our water.
Carmel Utilities invites you to take a brief, research-based survey about outdoor water use, focusing on lawn care and irrigation practices. The survey is part of a project led by the Purdue University Turfgrass Team, working to develop practical, science-backed strategies that support smarter water use across Central Indiana.
Your input will help us better understand how residents in Carmel use water for lawn maintenance and guide efforts to promote more efficient, sustainable practices. With our region facing the possibility of water shortages during dry seasons, even small steps toward conservation can make a meaningful difference for our community’s future.
Thank you for taking a few minutes to share your perspective and help keep Carmel’s water resources strong.
