Carmel kicks off National Disability Awareness Month this weekend
The City of Carmel is observing National Disability Awareness Month in March and will be part of several special events.

Community Sensory Day Saturday, March 8, 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Midtown Plaza
Join us in Midtown Plaza tomorrow, for snacks courtesy of our city partners at BraunAbility, free giveaways and sensory activities, videos hosted by the Carmel Advisory Committee on Disability (CACD) and a family-friendly movie.

Hamilton County launches Closed Captioning initiative
In honor of Disability Awareness Month, Hamilton County Tourism is proud to share a closed captioning initiative aimed at enhancing accessibility across the county.
Local businesses can visit this page on Hamilton County Tourism's website to access helpful information including how to set up closed captioning on your devices and how to get a window cling showing that you have closed captions.

Hamilton County Disability Resource Fair Wednesday, March 26, 6 - 7:30 p.m. Carmel High School
Carmel Clay Schools will host the Hamilton County Disability Resource Fair to provide information about community resources and services for individuals with disabilities and their families.
Carmel Clay Public Library March Disability Awareness Book List The library shared a list of recommended books to highlight authors with a disability or books with characters with a disability.

Road Closure at 1st Avenue SE Beginning Monday, March 10, 1st Avenue SE will be closed for utility work associated with the mixed-use development under construction on the east side of Range Line Road across from the Indiana Design Center.
During this two-day closure, 1st Street SE, Range Line Road and Supply Street are available detour routes. Click here to view a larger image of the map.

Monon Greenway detour update from Carmel Clay Parks & Recreation
Beginning Monday, March 10 through Tuesday, March 11, there will be a minor detour due to the Midtown Spray Plaza project.

College Avenue Reconstruction A reminder that beginning on or after March 17, the City will begin the next phase of construction on North College Avenue.

College Avenue from 96th Street to I-465 - Reconstruction of this portion of College Avenue will run through July 2025 and will require a full closure. During this time, you may access North College Avenue from the north, via West 106th Street.

96th Street and College Avenue Roundabout - Construction of the roundabout at this intersection is estimated to begin in late April or May and will require a 60-day closure.

Carmel Fire Department will partner with the Hamilton County Health Department for a free Stop the Bleed course. Learn how to control bleeding in an emergency situation until medical help arrives.

Community Shred-It & Electronics Recycling Day Saturday, March 15, 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. Creekside Middle School, 3525 W. 126th Street
Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana will host the Carmel Community Shred-it & Electronics Recycling Day event, along with a team of organizations including Carmel Police Department, Walgreens, Target, AARP, Technology Recyclers, Community SHRED-IT, Lamar Advertising, Domino's, WTHR Channel 13, Republic Services and Carmel Utilities.

- Every Friday, we will announce one Carmel Caffeine Trail shop on our social media outlets and in this e-newsletter for the upcoming week.
- The designated Carmel Caffeine Trail shop location will then give away a Caffeine Trail mug to customers on Wednesday during their featured week. Mugs are limited so act fast!

Opened just over a year, Dillingham's shop is community-focused with the mission to increase accessibility to knitting and crochet. A Yarn Market also hosts classes and events designed for all ages and skill levels.

The Hamilton County Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) is excited to announce the return of its Native Plant Kit Sale, offering residents an easy way to incorporate Indiana-native plants into their landscapes. These pre-selected kits provide an affordable and convenient way to establish native gardens that support pollinators, improve soil health, and enhance biodiversity.
