Winter fun continues Carmel Winter Games, February 11 - 12
Get your families, friends or colleagues together and register your teams today! The Carmel Winter Games are designed to encourage physical activity and a bit of healthy competition through on-ice, non-skating competitive games like "human hungry hippo," human curling and an ice trike relay!
But they need your help! Teams are now eligible to sign up to compete for medals and bragging rights on the ice rink! Click the link below for details. The Winter Games kick off on Friday, Feb. 11 with the Hometown Hero-Olympics and continue the following day, Saturday, Feb. 12, with the competitive group games.

City to commemorate Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Join Mayor Jim Brainard and the Mayor’s Advisory Commission on Human Relations as they commemorate the life and impact of American Civil Rights Leader Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. to benefit the United Negro College Fund.
The 2022 Commemoration Performances and artistic renderings will honor Dr. King Jr.’s legacy and achievements. The event will take place Monday, January 17 at 6 p.m. at the Tarkington Theater. It's FREE and open to the public.
From The Center for the Performing Arts: All patrons and other visitors age 12 or older must show proof of full COVID-19 vaccination upon entry for any event. As an alternative to vaccination, patrons may present physical or digital proof of a negative COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours priors to the event.
Masks or other appropriate facial coverings are required upon entry for anyone age 3 or older. Masks must be worn at all times while indoors.

Monon Greenway closure
A major renovation project along the Monon Greenway in the City Center area will result in the closure of the trail (see red area on map below) beginning Monday, January 17 and continuing until late October or early November. Detour route will be posted soon.

2022 Festival of Ice
Last weekend's Festival of Ice drew crowds to the Arts & Design District and Carter Green as skilled ice carvers showcased their talents. If you happened to be at the event on Sunday, you may have gotten to sample some savory chili from the Carmel Fire Department. Congratulations to this year's festival winners below!

Plan Commission sets their next Comprehensive Plan review meeting; revised draft coming soon
The proposed Comprehensive Plan update for the City of Carmel remains under review by the Carmel Plan Commission. After a series of review committee meetings, staff and the consulting team are drafting revisions to the initial plan based on feedback from the Plan Commission and the public. A revised draft will be posted soon; however, the initial draft is available at CarmelComprehensivePlan.com.

Carmel Utilities continues replacing aging water meters across the community with new, enhanced equipment allowing for more accurate readings and better water efficiency.

Carmel Utilities - Holiday lights recycling, one more week
Thank you to Carmel Clay Schools Green Teams, City of Carmel Utilities, Tech Recyclers and White’s Ace Hardware who worked together to make it a green holiday season by offering a Holiday Light Recycling Drive.
Now through January 20, residents can recycle used and unwanted holiday lights at White’s Ace Hardware at 731 South Range Line Road.

City Offices will be closed on Monday, January 17, in observation of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
Plan Commission - Tuesday, January 18, 6 p.m. Board of Public Works - Wednesday, January 19, 10 a.m. Carmel City Council - Wednesday, January 19, 6 p.m.
All public meetings take place in the Council Chamber's in City Hall, unless otherwise indicated. Public meetings are broadcast live on the City's website, Facebook page and YouTube channel.
