Carmel Police Chief Jim Barlow to retire after 38-year career; Mayor appoints Deputy Chief Jeff Horner to Chief
Carmel Police Chief Jim Barlow has announced he will retire after a 38-year career with the Carmel Police Department, the last five years as Chief of Police. Barlow’s last day will be January 7, 2022. Mayor Jim Brainard has appointed Deputy Chief Jeff Horner to replace Barlow as Chief.
Barlow has been Chief since June 1, 2017. During his time with the Department, he served as one of the department’s firearms instructors for more than 30 years and he spent 20- years as part of the SWAT team, six of those years as SWAT Commander.
The City of Carmel thanks Chief Barlow for his years of service to our great city.

PorchFest returns - holiday style
Saturday, 2 - 4 p.m. in Midtown Plaza
Join us for holiday music from PorchFest musicians, food and beverage vendors and a visit from a surprise guest at this family-friendly event. Midtown Plaza is included on the Carmel Holiday Trolley route, sponsored by Allied Solutions, which runs from 2 - 9 p.m. on Saturday, December 11.

Holiday in the Arts District welcomed Santa and friends
Santa, reindeer, elves and local elementary school choirs and musicians spent last Saturday at the Indiana Design Center for Holiday in the Arts District. For more photos of this festive event sponsored by Allied Solutions, visit the Holiday in Carmel Facebook page.

City of Carmel Bleed Blue Blood Drive
The City of Carmel, the Indianapolis Colts Bleed Blue program and Versiti (Bloodmobile) will host blood drives open to the public, in December on the following dates and locations. Registration for December 15 and 28 is now open. Sign up below!
December 15 - Carmel City Hall, 1 Civic Square, 1:15 - 4 p.m. December 28 - Water Treatment Plant, 4915 E. 106th Street, 10:45 a.m. - 1 p.m.
To make this event even more special, there is a contest between Carmel Police and Fire Departments to see who can generate the most donations. When you donate, ask the blooodmobile technician for a Vote Police (blue) or Vote Fire (red) ballot.
Donors will be given a voucher to order online at the December 15 and 28 drives.
Get involved with CYAP
In this season of giving, the Carmel Youth Assistance Program is a local organization with many opportunities to serve Carmel students and their families. CYAP works in collaboration with the Carmel Clay School District, City of Carmel and the Hamilton County Superior Court.

Please note...Republic Services holiday schedule
TRASH AND RECYCLING HOLIDAY SERVICE SCHEDULE The week AFTER Christmas and the week AFTER New Year's Day when a holiday falls on a Saturday, which is NOT a normal service day, Trash and Recycling residential service will NOT be delayed.
Therefore: CHRISTMAS There will NOT be a one-day delay the week AFTER Christmas. Pick-up/Service Day will remain the same as normal the week of December 27, 2021.
NEW YEAR'S Day: There will NOT be a one-day delay the week AFTER New Year's Day. Pick-up/Service Day will remain the same as normal the week of January 3, 2022.

Carmel Utilities - Holiday lights recycling
Carmel Clay Schools Green Teams, City of Carmel Utilities, Tech Recyclers and White’s Ace Hardware are working together to make it a green holiday season by offering a Holiday Light Recycling Drive.
Now through through January 20, residents can recycle used and unwanted holiday lights at White’s Ace Hardware at 731 South Range Line Road. The Carmel Clay Schools Green Teams will be offering recycling at the individual schools now through January 6.

Movies at Midtown Saturdays through December
Head to Midtown Plaza for Allied Solutions' Movies at Midtown! Movies will run on Saturdays through December. Show times are noon, 3 and 6 p.m. Times are subject to change as we will also show occasional college football games through the end of the regular season.
December 11 - Santa Buddies There will be a showing at 6 p.m. this Saturday
Hand sanitizer stations are still available throughout Midtown Plaza and please don't forget to clean up your surroundings once you've enjoyed the movie. Be sure to follow Midtown Plaza's Facebook page for all events.
