Signature at Carmel groundbreaking
New mixed-use development will be built at Main Street and Old Meridian
Tegethoff Development and Great Lakes Capital joined Mayor Jim Brainard and Carmel Redevelopment officials in breaking ground this week on a new $66 million multi-family, mixed-use project at the northeast corner of Old Meridian and Main streets.
The Signature at Carmel will be a residential community offering thoughtfully designed studio-, one- and two-bedroom rental apartment homes and eight two- bedroom, for-sale condominiums. Also, part of The Signature development will include 16,100 square feet of ground floor retail space. The City of Carmel is also a partner in the project by allowing the developers to use Tax Incremental Financing bonds to build a 389-space public parking garage as part of the project.

Indiana Community Crossings Matching Grant program awards Carmel $1M
Governor Eric Holcomb and Indiana Department of Transportation Commissioner Joe McGuinness announced more than 200 cities, towns and counties that received a combined $101.9 million in state matching funds for local road projects through the Community Crossings program. The City of Carmel received the maximum award amount of $1 million in matching funds to help with several future projects.

Plan Commission reviewing draft of Comprehensive Plan update
The proposed Comprehensive Plan for the City of Carmel, which will guide future planning and zoning decisions for many years, is now being considered by the Carmel Plan Commission. If you'd like to see the plan draft, it is available at CarmelComprehensivePlan.com.
Upcoming meetings of the Plan Commission's Comprehensive Plan Review Committee:
- Monday, November 29, 6 p.m.
- Tuesday, November 30, 6 p.m.

Carmel Fire Department announces life-saving projects
CFD annoucnes partnership with MedVet Indianapolis
The Carmel Fire Department recently announced their partnership with MedVet Indianapolis pet emergency located in southwest Carmel. If Carmel Firefighters rescue a resident's pet from a fire or other emergency requring veterinary services, there is now the option to take the pet to the MedVet emergency room.

CFD introduces bleeding control kits
The Carmel Fire Department announced its plan that has already placed more than 2,000 bleeding control kits in every public and private school classroom; school bus; government building and vehicle; and other facilties throughout the city.

Carmel Police Department officers participate in LLS fund-raiser, 'No-Shave November'
Officers and civilian employees of the Carmel Police Department are once again participating in “No-Shave November” to raise awareness about cancer and collect donations to benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. This is CPD’s sixth year of participation in "No-Shave November." The fundraising goal this year is $3,000. CPD is proud to have raised a total of more than $24,000 during the past four years to benefit LLS.

Volunteers with loads of holiday spirit, needed!
Carmel's biggest holiday event, the Carmel Christkindlmarkt, is actively recruiting volunteers to help with a number of positions at the Market. More than 300,000 attended the most recent market in 2019 and it was voted the No. 1 German Christmas Market in North America by USA Today. This is your chance to help the City of Carmel put on its best face for so many visitors. Here is what the Christkindlmarkt needs:
· Greeters · Photo Takers · Survey Administrators · Volunteer Services · Kinderecke support (children’s activities) · Docents – for people who have a real knowledge of German culture, heritage and holiday traditions

Carmel Fire Department annual Community Assistance Program kicks off
The Carmel Fire Department is gearing up for its annual Community Assistance Program. Each year, in partnership with the Hamilton County Good Samaritan Netowrk, CAP strives to ensure that families in need within Carmel-Clay Township are provided with food and gifts for the upcoming season. Carmel Utilities water meter change-out - where are we now?
Carmel Utilities has begun replacing aging water meters across the community with new, enhanced equipment allowing for more accurate readings and better water efficiency.

Bike Carmel and Freewheelin' Community Bikes collect 92 bikes!
|

Freewheelin' Community Bikes and Bike Carmel hosted their bike donation day on October 30 at Carmel City Hall. This year, 92 bikes were collected which is a 21% increase over the 2020 donation day event. Of the bikes donated, 74% will be used for program bikes in Freewheelin's community give-back program for veterans and individuals experiencing homelessness or domestic violence. The remaining will be broken down for parts for Freewheelin' program students.

Movies at Midtown Saturdays through December
Head to Midtown Plaza for Allied Solutions' Movies at Midtown! Movies will run on Saturdays through December. Show times are noon, 3 and 6 p.m. Times are subject to change as we will also show occasional college football games through the end of the regular season.
