Venue 1012 selected as Public Works Project of the Year
Fox Valley association recognizes new amphitheater
Oswego’s new Venue 1012 has been selected as the Fox Valley American Public Works Association Project of the Year in the category of structures of less than $5 million.
Oswego’s new home for performing arts, located along Orchard Road, was recognized for its collaborative development process, construction process and community engagement as part of the award.
“We are pleased that Fox Valley APWA saw Venue 1012 as a great accomplishment – we agree,” Village President Troy Parlier said. “From the beginning, we saw a unique opportunity to create a new community space and help reignite development along Orchard Road. Venue 1012 has already seen some big successes, and we are excited for what 2022 will bring.”
Venue 1012 officially opened in August of 2021, following collaborative public-private development process. The land for the project was donated by local business owner Kevin Fialko and his wife, Dawn, who also believed in the goal of bringing more arts and entertainment to the community. The project received additional in-kind and monetary donations to make Venue 1012 possible, including contributions from KCM Companies, Inc; H. Linden & Sons; Angelo Kleronomos/Property Concepts, Inc.; Schoppe Design Associates; Ottosen DiNolfo Hasenbalg & Castaldo Ltd.; D Construction; Central Sod Farms, Inc.; and more.
Venue 1012 has already hosted major national acts are part of VetFest last summer and discovered the best of Oswego in the Oswego’s Got Talent Competition. In December, the Village hosted the Holiday Drive Through at Venue 1012, bringing thousands of people through to enjoy holiday lights and displays as well as a visit from Santa himself.
Looking into the coming year, Venue 1012 will host a variety of community events and is also available for rent for both community and private events. Future development phases will include an entryway plaza with donor recognition wall, permanent bathrooms, and additional recreation facilities. Anyone interested in partnering with the Village on these future phases, becoming a part of Venue 1012’s legacy, can visit www.oswegoil.org/venue1012 for more information.
