Main/Chicago Construction Neighborhood Meeting on February 26

Please join me for a neighborhood meeting on Thursday, February 26, 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., in the Community Room at Hemenway United Methodist Church, 933 Chicago Ave. The meeting will provide information about construction plans for the approved mixed-use development at 835 Chicago Ave. Power Construction Company, the manager of the project, will be at the meeting to review detailed construction plans, provide a timeline for the project, and discuss what to expect during the construction process. I look forward to seeing you at the meeting.


Participate in the Free, Public Art Event, "Flight For Peace," on March 1

The Evanston Arts Council and Evanston’s diverse houses of worship invite you and your family to the Evanston Ecology Center on Sunday, March 1, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., to participate in the Evanston Winter HeARTh public art event, "Flight for Peace." 

A Japanese tradition, “senbazuru,” promises a person who makes 1,000 origami cranes the fulfillment of one wish…but, that’s a lot of cranes! Join the community effort to make 1,000 paper cranes and make a wish for peace in Evanston! The 1,000 cranes will then be temporarily installed in the Ecology Center. More >>>

Celebrate Black History Month at the Noyes Cultural Arts Center by exploring the new art exhibition, “A Family’s Journey Home: Narrative and Visual Expressions,” which will be on display in the Second Floor Gallery through Friday, March 6.

Long-time Evanston resident and artist Jevoid Simmons has meticulously traced his family history from the beginning of the early 20th century in Alabama. The paintings, which accompany a narrative, depict provocative events that tell the story of "A Family’s Journey Home."  More >>>

Deadline for Senior Citizen Property Tax Exemptions Extended to April 1

The deadline for senior citizen property tax reduction applications has been extended to Wednesday, April 1, 2015. Local seniors can call Evanston's Property Tax Assessment Review office at 847-448-8168 for help completing the forms. More >>>


Volunteers Needed for City's Snow Shoveling Program

Winter isn't quite over yet. Help your neighbors this season by joining the City's Senior & Disabled Persons Snow Shoveling program! The program connects residents in need with volunteers who are willing to provide snow shoveling services.
