Evanston Man Arrested for Aggravated DUI and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon By a Felon
 EVANSTON, IL - On July 3, 2025, at approximately 3:46 a.m., an Evanston Police officer curbed a vehicle in the 800 block of Davis St. for a vehicle code violation. The vehicle also matched the description of a reckless driver reported to Evanston Police dispatch moments earlier. Officers made contact with a male driver and identified him as Alex M. Hunt. Officers observed signs of intoxication during the roadway interaction. Hunt also displayed indicators of impairment while performing standardized field sobriety tests.
Officers placed Hunt into custody for DUI. A subsequent search of his person revealed an AMT .380 caliber handgun concealed on his hip with a loaded magazine. Additionally, a white, powdery substance was located on Hunt's person, to which he later stated was cocaine.
Hunt does not have a valid Illinois Firearm Owner's Identification (FOID) Card or a Concealed Carry License (CCL). The Cook County State's Attorney approved one felony count of DUI, one felony count of Unlawful Possession of a Weapon By a Felon, and one felony count of Aggravated Unlawful Possession of a Weapon in a Vehicle - Loaded, No FOID, No CCL. Hunt was also charged with one felony count of possession of a controlled substance and three misdemeanor counts of DUI.

Hunt was transported this morning to the Skokie Courthouse for a detention hearing.
All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
