 “Streetplus Evanston Clean Team”
Starting today, Mon., Nov. 14, the new "Streetplus Evanston Clean Team" will be providing enhanced cleaning, maintenance and landscaping services in retail areas across the city, including downtown Evanston.
Tasks the team will focus on include:
- Outdoor furniture maintenance
- Graffiti, sticker and signage removal
- Litter cleanup and trash removal
- Garbage can cleaning
- Landscape bed maintenance
- Spot cleaning/pressure washing
- Seasonal snow removal at crosswalks

This year's annual Mayor’s Awards for the Arts recipients, Vernon Clark and the Heirs of Joy, Evanston Dance Ensemble, and Evanston Mural Arts Program, will be recognized by Mayor Biss at "A Bright Night for the Arts" on Sat., Nov. 19, 6 p.m., at Studio5. Register to attend this free event!
 Fall Cleanup Reminders
- The City will continue additional street cleaning on residential streets through December 15. View the schedule: cityofevanston.org/streetcleaning.
- The final week for food and yard waste pickup will be December 5-8. Collections occur on residents’ normal refuse pickup day.
- The City’s exclusive food scrap hauler, Collective Resource Compost, provides a 16-week Winter Gap composting program where residents can pay a one-time fee to have a 5-gallon bucket dropped off at their residence for weekly/biweekly pickup.
- Backpack mounted or handheld gasoline-powered leaf blowers can be used through December 1 during set hours.
 Get involved in participatory budgeting
Participatory Budgeting Evanston is hosting its first official Idea Collection Assembly on Tues., Nov. 22, from 6:45 p.m. to 8:15 p.m., at the Robert Crown Community Center, where community members can submit ideas for how to spend money allocated to the participatory budgeting process and learn how to become a budget delegate. RSVP to secure your spot!
Stormwater Master Plan Public Meeting
The City, in coordination with Hey and Associates Inc., is hosting a public meeting to give an update on the Stormwater Master Plan project on Wed., Nov. 16, at 6 p.m., in Room G300 of the Morton Civic Center. At the meeting, staff will give an overview of the project, provide updates on the current status, and discuss next steps.
Over the past two years, the City has contracted with Hey and Associates to create a hydraulic and hydrologic model to analyze the City’s stormwater system. This model will be used to evaluate the City’s existing stormwater performance as well as the system’s resilience to future conditions.
 Mayor's Holiday Food, Book & Toy Drive
Help ensure every Evanston family gets to celebrate this season by donating new, unwrapped toys, staple food items, and new and gently used children's books to the Mayor's Holiday Food, Book and Toy Drive.
