The applications deadlines have passed for both the Illinois Emergency Rental Assistance (ERA) Program and the Emergency Mortgage Assistance (EMA) Program. View additional homeowner assistance information.
 Emergency Food Pantry Tomorrow
To support residents facing economic hardship and food insecurity as a result of COVID-19, the City is hosting another Emergency Food Pantry tomorrow, Sept. 16 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at James Park. The Pantry offers Evanston residents free, prepackaged boxes of food, including non-perishable items, produce, and protein. Registration is required.

 State COVID-19 Testing Sites
Community members may visit any of the State’s COVID-19 community-based, drive-through testing sites to receive a free COVID-19 test, regardless of symptoms. The nearest community-based testing locations to Evanston are:
Harwood Heights 6959 W. Forest Preserve Rd., Chicago Open 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily while supplies last
Arlington Racetrack 2000 W. Euclid Ave., Arlington Heights Open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily while supplies last
Get involved in the City's FY2021 budget process
Evanston residents are invited to join in community budget conversations via Zoom during the month of September. The virtual meetings will include a brief overview of the City’s budget process followed by breakout room discussions. Gathered input will be presented to City Council. Next steps in the city manager recruitment process
The City is moving forward with the next phase of its city manager recruitment process. GovHR, the City’s contracted executive search firm, is currently reviewing 70 submitted applications. Following this, the City Council will begin its process to select and interview candidates, solicit community input, and determine a finalist.
Fall bulk trash pickup
Take advantage of the free removal of up to six cubic yards of bulk garbage this fall as part of the City's Bulk Trash Pickup program. Fall 2020 bulk trash pickups will take place on Fridays, Sept. 18 through Oct. 9, and are scheduled according to residents' normal refuse pickup day. No electronics, appliances, construction materials, or hazardous materials are accepted.
