City Launches 'COVID-19 Response' Volunteer Portal
EVANSTON, IL - The City of Evanston has launched a new online resource to better connect Evanston organizations responding to the COVID-19 pandemic with volunteers willing to lend their assistance and expertise.
The City's "COVID-19 Response" volunteer portal, available at cityofevanston.org/covidvolunteers, is a part of the City's VolunteerEvanston platform. The website serves as a one-stop shop for volunteers seeking opportunities, while providing organizations with an easy-to-use platform to list their needs.
Current and anticipated volunteer needs include tutoring, print materials distribution, medicine and food transport, and more. New opportunities will be added frequently. Organizations in need of assistance are encouraged to submit the volunteer request form available on the website.
For those individuals unable to volunteer their time, the portal also includes opportunities to donate supplies and funds. The City is currently accepting donations of unopened medical, disinfection and sanitation items and personal protective equipment (PPE) to be dispersed throughout the community. Individuals who would like to donate these items should complete the donation form available on the website.
In addition, the Evanston Community Foundation has launched the Evanston Community Rapid Response Fund to foster a unified philanthropic response to address the impact of COVID-19 in Evanston. Donations to the Evanston Community Rapid Response Fund will immediately support this vital effort. Contributions can be made on the COVID-19 Response page and at evanstonforever.org.
