ARREST MADE IN BATTERY/DOG BITE INVESTIGATION
On Thursday, May 11, 2017, Evanston police detectives charged Arthur Williams, 47 years old, from Evanston in a battery/dog bite incident that occurred on March 3, 2017 in the 1200 block of Forest Avenue. During the incident, the 65 year old victim from Chicago stated that he was driving his vehicle attempting to make a right turn on Forest Avenue from Burnham Place with the green arrow when Williams who was walking his dog, walked in front of his vehicle. The victim stated that he honked his horn at Williams, at which point Williams kicked the victim's vehicle, opened the drivers side door and began to batter the victim. The victim was ultimately pulled out of the vehicle and bit in the groin and left hand by the dog that Williams was walking, after Williams gave the dog a verbal command to bite the victim. Williams and the dog left the scene on foot southbound on Forest Avenue. The victim was treated on-scene by the Evanston Fire Department. The victim had scratch marks on his torso and left hand, and puncture wounds to his thigh area.
Detectives received a tip naming Williams' as the possible offender in the incident. Williams came into the Evanston Police Department on Thursday, May 11, 2017 and was subsequently charged with misdemeanor Battery.
