Trial Traffic Restrictions Planned for Ridge Ave. and Grove St. Beginning April 13

To address safety and operational concerns at the intersection of Ridge Ave. and Grove St., the City of Evanston’s Public Works Agency, in coordination with the Evanston Police Department, will implement changes to the traffic patterns at the intersection on a trial basis.

The trial implementation will begin on Wednesday, April 13 and will continue until October 2016. Between the hours of 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., the following traffic restrictions will be enforced:

  • Northbound and southbound traffic on Ridge Ave. will be prohibited from making left turns onto Grove St.
  • Eastbound and westbound traffic on Grove St. will be required to turn right onto Ridge Ave. Left turns and traveling straight through the intersection will not be allowed from Grove St.

Traffic signs will be posted.

The trial implementation will allow the City to evaluate if these modifications improve the safety and operations at this intersection before proposing permanent changes.
