North Suburbs & City of Chicago
Properties in the north suburbs & City of Chicago are not scheduled to be reassessed this year, but property owners still have an opportunity to file an appeal once a year with the Cook County Assessor's Office.
The following townships are now open for appeal.

*If an individual property undergoes significant changes related to division work, permit applications, or other special circumstances, then it may be reassessed. Under this circumstance, the property owner would receive a Reassessment Notice containing the new estimated fair market value. |

 Reassessments every 3 years
Cook County is divided into three areas: the northern suburbs, south and west suburbs, and the City of Chicago. Each of these areas is reassessed once every three years. This year, the south and west suburbs are undergoing reassessment.

How do assessment appeals work?
Property owners are given an opportunity to appeal their assessment if the property characteristics are incorrect, or if the market value is significantly more than what it could sell for.

After a township undergoes reassessment, a Valuation Report is released that provides details on residential, commercial, and multi-family reassessments. Property owners can use these reports to gain insight on how property assessments work, learn about the real estate market in their specific neighborhood, and compare the median to their property value.
