Windy Ridge Road #318 to Temporarily Close for Road Maintenance

Idaho Falls, ID – A popular road for hunting and recreation near Ririe will be temporarily closed for maintenance beginning Monday, October 27, 2025. Windy Ridge Road #318 located in the Fish Creek Drainage and southwest corner of the Idaho Department of Lands (IDL) Kelly Canyon block, will be closed for about a month. This road runs across state endowment trust land and USDA Forest Service lands.
Closure signs will be posted, and the public is asked to obey all closure signs in the area.
Logging and mastication equipment will be on the road allowing crews to clear timber and overgrowth along the sides of the road. This work will benefit recreational users by increasing visibility and supporting the Madison County grooming district. Work will be completed before it is time to groom the road for snow machines.
The Madison County Snowmachine District #33 obtained a grant to widen the roads for grooming equipment and the work is done by the county grooming district in collaboration with IDL and USDA Forest Service.
