Old Greer Fire Update

 

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 

June 28, 2025, 7:00 p.m. PT

 

(Greer) – The Old Greer Fire remained within its footprint today, keeping to 78 acres.  The crews are working to get ahead of an anticipated warming weather trend early next week.  Helicopters were utilized throughout the day to combat hotspots.

Old Greer Grade remains closed due to fire activity.  There are no evacuations, however 5 structures remain threatened.

There are 160 fire personnel engaged in the fire operations, with 6 engines, 3 dozers, 3 water tenders. The Idaho Department of Lands (IDL), together with the U.S. Forest Service, the Nez Perce Tribe, and the Clearwater-Potlatch Timber Protective Association continue to work through steep, rugged terrain to construct direct containment lines, slow fire spread, install hose lays and pumps, and provide structure protection.

The Old Greer Fire is across the river from Greer, in Lewis County at approximately 46.380833, -116.188.

The fire was reported Wednesday June 25, 2025, at approximately 8:30 p.m.  The fire has been determined to have been caused by lightening.
