FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Mowry Fire Nearing Full Containment

(Worley) – The ‘Get Ready’ evacuation notice by Kootenai County was lifted yesterday evening as strong firefighting efforts halted the fire’s spread. There are no longer any evacuations in place. The fire is at 65% containment with full containment expected by the end of the day. The same firefighting resources as yesterday are there today strengthening containment lines and mopping up.

Date of Origin: 8/28/2024 at approximately 1:00pm PT

Location:  Approximately 4 miles north of Worley, ID and just south of Cave Bay on Lake Coeur d’Alene

Estimated Size: 103 acres 

Cause:  Under investigation 

Firefighters on Scene: 10 engines, 3 bull dozers, 1 helicopter, and 1 hand crew

Cooperating Agencies: Coeur d’Alene Tribe, US Forest Service
